Hey Dewi, yeah your DT will have a boost bottle attached, look in the motor behind the cylynder where he plastic attaches to the carb, there should be a bottle there will look like this but the other way round (bottle on the bottom) http://i.ebayimg.com/00/$(KGrHqZ,!joE4s)6WzzjBOR(UL65Jw~~0_35.JPG also the reed valve is installed all ready, all you can do is change the reed out for a carbon fiber one, not much of an improvement though with a stock bike, my best advice for you is that you give the air filter a good clean and re oil it, maybe drill an extra hole in the airbox but that is not for a novice to do, the best tuning you can give your bike really is a free flow exhaust (easy for a novice) and a bigger carburettor (not for a novice) but after you will need to do some airbox modification. I recommend that you read through every post on this forum that talks about modifying the engine and also that you buy a Haynes manual and read it thouroughly, simple gearbox tuning is good for you though, sprockets, smaller on the front larger on the rear = more acceleration less top speed. larger on the front smaller on the rear = less acceleration more top speed.
Thanks for the help, There is a bigger carb on my bike i think its a 40mm, my local garage put it in after the pistons blew.
My bike will top out about 75 at a push, but i want to do the work on my bike for experience not only engine work styling too. so any help would be brill thanks!
If you want to do things to your bike start off with a coolant change, then you can take the top end (barrel and cylinder head) off and give the exhaust valve a polish and the top of the piston etc, like i said though read the Haynes manual, you really need to know what the bike looks like inside the motor and you also need to learn how the motor works,Google is your friend so start there searching how a two stroke motor works, your lucky really because I didn't have the internet when I started out, had to learn it all by cutting myself lots and breaking things.
