Mikuni flat slide carb

Hi all

The Mikuni flat slide carb as fitted to the later DT's - is there supposed to be an adjuster screw on the off side of the carb?

I've got an idle speed adjuster and another plugged screw on the nearside, but there's no adjuster screw at all on the nearside of mine.

So, is there supposed to be one, what's it for and where can i get one!

Cheers

As 'luck' would have it though, the bike has been running like a bag o crap today, so whipped off the carb for a closer look. That hole doesn't seem to serve any purpose (there's certainly not meant to be a screw in there by the looks of it)

Anyway, see if you can spot why my bike was only running with the choke on

Emptied a can of carb cleaner on it afterwards and cleaned the whole thing up like new

check your float height, if youve got a haynes manuals it tells you everything you need to do if you dont know how

i was thinking the same when i got mine, but had a look at another dt carb and it was the same. looks like the mixtures set using only the jets

The blanked off hole in the other side is a tick over screw hole, it's there because Yamaha / Other Japanese manufacturers use them on different models. If they were use for a twin you'd need to have the tick over screws on opposite sides, thats why. Possibly used on the TZR 250? I duno? But it would explain it.
