Ok...so had a look a most of the hundreds of chain and sprocket threads and coukdnt find my answer..basically i bought a 13 tooth front sprok and fitted it yest...my chain was on tightness level 12.5 ish...but when i put the new sprok on...even when it was tightned to the max, the chain was still just too loose...so i thought ok, get a new cahin but then thought...like a bicycle...will running a new front sprok and chain just destroy my rear sprok? the rear is in great nick so i dunno what to do...will it ruin it??
Chains and sprockets wear together, so if you have changed a front sprocket that was in good condition then it wont be a problem. If the chain is too loose yoiu probably need to remove a link.
Dont buy a chain splitter to do this, angle grinder or a drill with a grinding stone will do the same job, just remove 1 pin or however many you need to as long as you dont grind the good link that you want to keep.
ill you tube it! the chain has a few tight spots in...While we are on the subject...and seeing as there is no general chat section im going to have a huge rant on here!!
Ok, so clutch cable was hanging on by like 5 threads...so i ordered one from yammy dealer along with a new plastic and bulb and stuff...so i get to the shop with literally 2 threads of clutch cable left, and ask the guy to borrow a 10mm spanner to undo the one bolt you need to change the clutch cable...and he said no. he said they never lend their tools out...i was like wtf??! i said...im not gonna run off with your flucking 10mil you nob! i have a full snap on set at home!! so then i said, ok well can one of your guys hold the spanner and just undo that one bolt...and he said..minimum charge on labour is £15 quid plus vat. i was like youre a prick lol. anyway what a load of crap eh! and now they want 47 quid plus vat for just the chain! Grrrr
