The bike has been re bored new piston and rings, new reeds, new air filter, new exhaust, powervalve polished like new and set to fully open (de restricted) and a new plug but wont rev over 6k when riding it yet if you are in netural and pin the throttle back it will rev off the clock. It is like this in all gears and will only rev to6k. Apart from putting a new carb on it the whole of the top end is new. Please help cheers.

I have not had the bike very long but was a non starter when i bought it. I have done all the work on it that i have mentioned but still wont rev over6k when i ride it. new carb comming this week but i am not sure that it will solve my problem could the cdi be restricted and even if it is the bike should go faster than 45mph.
I dont think any of the UK ones have electronic restrictors apart from the reed switch but thats only a speed thing not a rev thing, some of the german ones have alot more restrictors though anychance yours is german?
Thanks for your reply i dont think mine is an import i am waiting for a carb to turn up as i am not 100% sure that the one on there is right. I will let you know what happens.
New carb fitted today but the bike just revs up when started. Ihave tried a couple of different air filters but its still the same. any help as to why this is happening would be great cheers.
i know it seems mad but when i fitted a new carb i had no water in my bike filled it with water and it stoped reving right up ?? i know the water goes into the carb but i dont know why ?
i guess it depends what carb you got buy i have two water pipes coming from the top of the head and into the carb like i said i could be well off but mine reved right up like redlining and i filled it up nd seem to work ????????
i have just bought a mikuni vm26 round slide but dont have any water pipes going into it . My bike is a 1987 125lc which is a bit different to most on this forum.
Solved it i decided today to take the engine out n strip it after close inspection it turns out that the con rod is the wrong one as the piston is not reaching the top of the barrel but is comming up 10mm short hence the lack of compression and power so i have decided to do a full rebuild with new bearings oil seals ect ect. The bike has already had new air filter, new carb, new reeds, new piston n rebore, small end bearings, new power valve, new exhaust front and rear pipe and new chain n sprockets so when the engine is done should be sweet as a nut. Happy days.
