Aye tests richness of air to fuel mix, done with a new plug usually, run it 10-15 mins on a run rather than standing, if you can, then take plug out afterwards, see the colour of the plug electrode, the darker brown the richer it's running, and adjust at the carb withy mixture screw, if needed, better a dark plug than a very light plug, as that means running lean , and not healthy for engine. light brown is pretty much there mind.
Another tip, for if and when you have to richen/weaken your mixture, at the mixture screw, is left or anti- clockwise will lean off your mixture, and right turn at the screw will richen the mixture, L=Leaner R=Richer
