gears not disengaging

Hi,

Passed my CBT on Saturday so have been enjoying my DT for the last couple of days ! However I went to get on it this morning and the clutch would not disengage when I pulled the lever in :(

Is there an obvious reason for this ?? It was wroking all the way home last night and the bike has not moved sice what could have caused this ??

Regards Sam

Sticky clutch plates maybe, it happens. Stamp it down a gear

I tried changing in and out of first nothing changed, the cable is still connected and when I pull the cable in the arm on top of the clutch housing moves

Mine does that some times, I just tighten the clutch cable at the lever by half a turn and try again, normally frees it. Then turn it back to original position. Works for me.

yes could be a number of things

selector shaft return spring

selector drum

worn forks

either way its a "get in and look" job

1st try holding the gear lever in ur hand and pull it straight twards u  so asif ur trying to pull the selector shaft out of the engine

if a bikes dropped on the shaft at any time wit can bend the mechanism on the end and then come dislocated from time to time

The bike will go up and down the gears but will not disengage the clutch when you pull the lever

Just whip the clutch cover off and have a look at clutch, might just need adjustment, pull clutch in and see if pressure plate moves out if not adjust the nut in center if this fails take off pressure plate and slide out the rods in the center of the clutch hub, there should be a rod then a ball bearing then another rod check for damage and dont lose the small bearing

Hard to tell whithout seing it, but if your sure its not anything simple just take clutch cover off but follow a manual and you cant go wrong, you will need a impact driver more than likely or your just round the crossheads on the clutch cover
