yeah I know lol just didnt want to clutter forum with hundreds of pics .

not realy a lover of black bikes so the black is going love the whites or my fav is the red dtr but panels for them are rare . placed wanteds all over for full setts of panels + tank but must be in great condition .
not planning on rushing this job so it may drag on for a while I already have a great looking 89 white and red so this one is just to tinker with over time.
would love a nice upside down front end maybe yz ? any ideas if any of the yz front ends fit or maybe other bikes with upside downs on ?

Easy fella, click the "IMG code" under each photo, it will say copied, then paste it in here, will show us the pics here instead of having to go to photo bucket.

Like the black and green lol

Mate. I'm excited for you. I really want to do a project like that but unfortunately I can't afford insurance on a car so I must have my DT on the road.

I look forward to the up coming photo's and be sure to keep us posted on the work you do!

No bother with the pics on here, makes it better for us lot. You could get a new set of white panels and spray them red with the tank? Not sure on how long it would last though.

There's plenty of posts of usd conversions, cba to go through it again, you could always use me or brad to get the conversion done for you. All we would need is the DT bottom yoke and yz bottom yoke. Just let us know mate.

thanx for the offer of help .. but kinda like to do all the work myself . even if I have never done something I always give it a try myself lol and yes some times things do go wrong but thats all part of the learning proccess .

thought about spraying some plastics but its never the same as the real thing and I am a bit of a pureist and like most things on bikes to be original . sure something will come up or if I have to will buy odd plastics here and there to make up a full sett in one color ..

always lots of of road dtr about with nice sett's on so if the right one pops up ill buy it swap parts over then resell it on for maybe a little less than paid ..and still get the parts I need only cheaper ..

my white dtr 89 1 owner

this is the red one I would love

Thats cool man offers there, you won't be able to do the conversion yourself, we didn't, we know this good engineering firm who did it, not too expensive neither. Theyve gotta couple of hot rods down there they've built an a tasty steetfiter that looks mint, they also make my dog bones that I sell on here. You'd need some heavy machinery and custom made on site parts to do it.

well total striped all the paint of old frame and other metal parts .

seem.s at some point some *&&^&$^£^" painted this bike kawasaki green ??

got it all off  and gave it all a couple of coats of primer

going to respray frame  white  not sure what color do do swing arm as of yet ..

just won a full seet of plastics and tank on ebay the purple set with tank for £35 bargain think the left side rad scoupe is missing so will have to hunt one down or spray one up to match ?  so if anyones got a purple left scoupe would be great .

hopeing to spray this week lets hope all go.s well I am not the best of sprayers and only useing rattle cans lol  but lets face it its gota look better than it did

have a small qestion as I am unser of something .

the old front sprocket is crappy lost teeth ect ..now I have another front sprocket that I got with a load of dtr bits a couple of years ago ? but it is larger and more teeth . it fits fine was wondering if this would be ok on the bike or would I need to change anything to suit it ?
old one has 17 teeth  ...the new one has 18 teeth and is a little larger
heres a pic the one on the right  is the old one that came of the eng

the 1 tooth up means you lose a little on acceleration but gain on top end, but to be honest it is not going to be a lot of difference

Hey MDK, I like your teardown and rebuild in 8 days.  Beats my project strategy of "work on it when I find time".

I think next project bike I get, I'm going to take 2-weeks off of work and just do it. Hopefully get er done in 8 days and go riding for the rest of my holiday.

Long time lurker here, finally first post, Cheers!
