My kickstart thread was buggered too, some prat had hit the end of the shaft without putting a nut on to protect it, so last night I got a fine sharp edged rat file and filed the thread following on from the good thread at the back going to the front, nut goes on no problem now. Took about half an hour. Either that or get a 12mm fine metric thread die 1mm pitch, only have 1.5mm mesen.

put on my surgens gear for a transplant opperation, never try to do to much t a time, because i have a short fuse when my back and head hurt and would kick it over done it before
but anyway, got the lump in, the new kickstart mechanism thread is buggerd so i will need to change it , was like it when i bought it
got the intake on, throttle cable modified, powervalve adjusted, no luck with the kickstart so will have to use my old one and waiting for woodruff key
Coming on real nice Towie, bit surprised you've gone with a red shock spring mind, in the scheme of things I thought it may have either been blue or yellow, oh aye the same colour blue, in nail varnish in the yamaha on the casings would look good too. but thats just my opinion.
When I sprayed my springs, it wasn't a problem really, just clamp on to the springs, wind down till you see that ring clip, that sits in the groove on the damper body. pull it out, then uncompress.spring and spring seat plate comes straight off.
nah trust me its all good, thinking about it I'm swapping shocks on that 89 DT i bought couple of weeks back thats got a yellow spring on it. dampers buggered mind, can just make out in the pic.
Like I say I'll not be using the Yellow one off mine, but if you want to look for one, the 88 3BN, 89 3MD, 90, 91 3RM bikes all had the 'Competition Yellow' rear shock spring, part number 3BN - 22210-10-pi
3xp(new crank) on left original 3mb on the right, perfect match
slight problem so. basically the shampfer of the new crank did not match my magneto and cases leaked a lil bit so i had to get a 3xp crank and sell blaster crank
the shampfer of the blaster crank was almost identical to the dtre/x crank which is longer on the L/H side for electric starts
the 3xp is a perfect match for my magneto, so will be swapping it soon so stripping it down again
i could have converted to different cdi/ loom and fly wheel but had to fix the leak anyway
finally had time to finish this, and finally sorted the stator plate, one of the many problems was that on the engine i used it had eletric start, which hadn't been machined out to match the stator i am using,
everything ready, just needs gearbox oil, then exhaust manifold angle need changing but will do once it runs,
jetting probably miles out and all sorts of after thoughts to come,
hopefully start it tomorrow but exhaust will be bodged on
