Cheers yeah carb bin cleaned out n checked all seems ok, what abouts rejetting? Any suggestions on size jet

Hi everyone really need some help. Had a dtr as a kid n loved it so thought id get a fixer upper project to get ready for summer. Anyway got a early90s off ebay for a couple of magic beans and a skinny chicken lol, was more like box of bits really was a real mess anyway got a 01 frame n v5 got 02 motor with powervalve servo n started from ther, currently running early style carb and early 90s cdi, have deristrcted inlet rubber and downpipe, fitted old dep backbox, anyway today was ready to ride so i thought, anyway started straight away and runs great aslong as choke is on but soon as turn choke off it dies, any ideas guys????? Please help

As in tuning section - 'I don't know whats wrong!'

But yeah I'd say it isn't jetted correctly. Need a bigger jet in there. Or carb needs a clean.

Clean carb check jets, normaly if it runs on choke and not with out choke the carb need a good clean

Use carb cleaner and compressed air

I'm clueless when it comes to sizes. Someone here will know though

Ok cheers for advice guys ill try makin hole in jet bigger failing that ill buy some jets off ebay n bit of trial an error

Ye it is ur main get them of allens performance n it depends n ur altitude n air intake wt size u need I bought I few sizes to make it worth delivering but sounds to me like you hav done a bodge on air intake restriction I did myn with proper air tyt sealent so no problems lyk tht bt wasnt worth tha hassel atall tbh id get a standard one of ebay n pt it bk on if I were you

Ive got spare inlet always try n hv a spare if m modifying sumet just incase, ive got new crankseals n jets orderd from ebay, had to guess n order few cos unsure wat size currently running, cos bike was in bits n boxes wen got it with tzr bits mixed in so dnnt no if carb is off dtr or tzr as older dtrs had same round side carb only difference been standard jet tzr 180 n dtr 125 so ordered 150, 160 200 an 210 just have to wait for postman pat n see how it goes
