U dnt need engine numbers and if u start stamping 1s in and u get pulled over and they check m8 they will more than likely take the bike off u to get it checked were as if its got none on they don't seem to bother u about it
No insurance company are gonna insure you for a dt with a wr engine in it with no numbers if you declare it
Nor will dvla allow the change of your engine info on the v5 if you declare it
Think about it mate, that SETUP, only way you would possibly get it back on the road is to not declare it, but obviously your get done hard if, if you was to get caught...

If I had the genuine engine number then I could ride it legally. Insurance would possibly be slightly more as its been 'modified' but its still learner legal as its 125cc and well within the bhp limit. Tax on the wr is the same as the DT, £16.
i dont see why everyone was going mad about what speed you'll get out of the wr125 motor there quick for a 125 4 stroke and sound mad when you put an aftermarket
zorst on :D
Depends on the size of the bike Cal, high comp 4 strokes like the 640 KTM sound amazing, agreed 125 4 strokes sound ****e tho, DRZ sounds alright with an MRD aswell
I think i'll be out numbered again here nath mate. Even 250 mxers sound gash in my opinion. Just sound so jubby.
Inline 4 is my favourite. V twins sound gash. V8's are aweful. Just horrible noise. Not like a sexy tuned inline 4 or v6. Or formula one cars. But american muscles sound gash.
Love inline 4 hitting v tec or turbo twitter. Just something about it.
as stupid as it sounds i get people coming up to me "mate your bike sounds nice" alot of the time haha, never had that with my IL4's even tho i agree i prefer the 4s without doubt nothing better than pinging by at 15k rpm! still remember when i broke down on my DRZ on the M'way and i stopped under a bridge, my brother come past on his gixxer 750 which had a slash cut decat on, full chat haha, best thing ive ever heard!
Tell ya something actually. Best V4 i've ever heard (not in real life) is the RD500 V4 ring ting.
Nah must be me. Even shļt saxo's with a dirty pipe sound nice. Although embarrassing to be in or to own a jap can saxo 1.0. Still think it sounds nice lmao.
Part of me wishes Id stuck a yz125 engine in it... I suppose I still could but cba now. Ive got my clio Trophy up for sale as we need a more child friendly car?! when the clios sold I can pay off some bills and buy some bits, like an arrow end can and all new plastics... Oh and a new car obviously.
I could have made the engine fit without having to chop the front part of the frame out but that would have ment the 'yamaha' logo on the engine wouldnt have been horizontal... And that would piss me off. So out came the grinder. The engine is sat pretty much where it needs to be but I will be moving it an inch further back after a bit more cutting. Because its now sat lower in the frame it also ment that I wont need to **** around cutting the tank to miss the water pump housing. Win.

Ah fair enough. If you can get all the work done for less than a wr it will be worth it. The minute you spend more than that then... Sure it'll be interesting but.
To be fair i always wanted a dtx. But couldn't afford one. Now i've apent far more than a top of the range dtx. But i've never had that money all in one go. Neither could i get that money in one go. So i'vw had to buy it in drips amd drabs.
Look forward to more work though!
And your view count is off the head!

Tbf ive only spent £400 so far over 18 months. Made ok money selling the dtr parts which paid for the engine and forks. I just dont get time to work on it.
Your like me then. I cant really afford it all in one go. I think another few hundred quid and it'll be ready. No idea what it would be worth finished.
Yeah I cant believe the views, thanks everyone. My project is only on this site too.
Looking forward to seeing this bike on the road, bare in mind a brand new WR is like £3.5k or something that was built by a robot in factory, rather than a hand sculpted one of a kind machine made in Nathan's shed lol.
It's good to see projects like this, it's amazing how different the bikes are on here and this one takes the biscuit lol! Really is an impressive bit of work.
Alright chaps. Not much, bought some more bits, throttle and right hand switches, new white fork protectors and suspension linkage bolts. no pics im afraid.
