Thats a 160 by the looks of it! wouldnt even put one of them on my DRZ not enough contact patch on the tire to get it down enough! i love the look of big tires tho! looks mean!
Its a maxxis sportmaxx 160/60/17. Absoloutly no need for it on a 125 but I thought why not!? It does look wider in the photo tbh. Pair of tyres cost £160 delivered.
i dont fully understand the difference with handling characteristics and tyre sizes nathlaad show me the way!!! these goldspeeds are one of the best u can get but only available in tht size... wat to do???
Im not 100% a Guru but those 160s are gunna be for RM's/CR's/KTM's etc, basically the rear like swingarm is gunna be wider and designed for a larger tire so that you'll be able to lean it in further and more travel and the smaller the width then its gunna flick onto the sticky wall quicker which is why sports bikes have larger tires & smaller swingarms as it takes longer (in splitsecond terms) to get onto the side of the larger tire, but with the SuMo's your gunna need smaller as its more flickable and lighter, which is why higher psi is gunna lower that contact patch making it more flickable as your not going to need to hit that contact patch for extended periods unlike these GP boys! but like i said im not a Guru i'm just going with what ive experienced personally!
Unless its some sort of 400cc 4t that'll bolt in. Even still I'd rather have a lighter two stroke body engine. If you want more power get a bigger bike.
Oh you guys... I knew this was going to raise a few eyebrows. Im going to be fitting a wr125/r125 engine. Its going to sound stupid but its mainly for the increase in mpg and reliability. Like I said in my first post in this thread I purchased the bike to save money on commuting... But ive ended up going to town on it so I need to justify it and fitting this engine just makes sense, I need something good on fuel, doesnt require constant maintance and is over all cheap to run. If I wanted a fast and fun bike... id buy one lol.
Still cheap and reliable with the DT engine bud. The only difference is that you get fun added into the mix aswell. You'll regret it in the long run ;)
Even if you pinned it everywhere you'd still only need to renew the top end every 10-15k. Which is nothing for the fun factor you'd be getting, in comparison to the slow 4T lump. + you'll be able to commute faster. So you can get home for your dinner before it's cold, where as if you went with the 4T it'd have to be re-heated, and probably only be fit for the jack russel :(
