Aye spot on with the bottom one Talcum, you need the mesh or you'll have them flapping against the force of the wind against it, and possibly bending then breaking off. but I suffer terrible with numb fingers after about 20 mins of riding. So need to sort something sharpish.

Nope. Wasted my time. In all fairness though he was quick enough to issue a refund. But still. 21 days to advertise something any not even have it for sale. Not on!

Well boys and girls, time for pictures!

Re build is now complete, it still doesn't idle without the throttle slightly pulled but can't be too picky...

Then I got a new inlet due to the rubber being split, so just cut it down

Then I kind of forgot to take anymore pictures, but here it is finished

Got a few new things as well, a tank for one, new fender, cut the rear handle off and probably some more things I forgot

T-cut n wire wool I used for my DT enduro spokes, and then after wiped them with a sponge wet with ACF-50, to keep em summat like.

Aye a pan scrub will do it, those impregnated with soap good too, gets the crap off nicely, but still use T=cut to make em shine, some use Autosol, but T-cuts cheaper.

That scratch will come out with wet n dry, you'll not know its been there once you've polished it.

I thought I took some other pictures but can't find them

The DT is now finished, well nothing I need to do or buy really - only thing I can think of is an alarm

Since the last pictures I got;

  • A new tank (no dents, scratches or rust) and swapped the D&D stickers over
  • Tail tidy (sadly took no pictures)
  • Hpires rear fender

Only mod needed next is to get rid of the L plates!

So from this..

To this...

To this...

Yeah I agree would look better by a lot

Only problem is I've taken on another couple of projects, will post up a progress thread when I finally get them started and with my final year of uni I really have no time at all - if early next year I get some free time I will invest some time into the old girl again :)

Another thing, the rear spokes look crap I think the DTX excel rims both use stainless spokes, but by the looks of it on the WRX it's only the front ones..

Anything I can do or use to try and shine them up? Bearing in mind some have started to surface rust a bit

Looks very smart that mate!

Must say though, i agree with nev on polishing and shortening the dep, would finish it off nicely.

Never used any, think I have some somewhere though - used a pan scrub before falls apart in 30 seconds haha

Cheers bud, it's even worse when you look at it in person there is a huge mark where the sticker use to be and is scratched like hell

Aye got a couple of bottles of T cut hanging around, and plenty of wet and dry will give it a bash when I get some time

Couple of bits and bobs

Finally ditched the L plates

Got my mates DT and robbed some renthal grips and ZETA bar ends off (as well as the throttle tube)

Decided to have 15 minutes polishing the dep end can, even with this little amount of time the results were amazing. Compared to the spare one I have the differences are damn decent.

Going to make the spare I have into a stubby one, is it literally grind it down and re rivet the end bit back on?

Aye but using self tappers helps to change the exhaust wadding at a later date much easier
