the less ristriction you have or things blocking the flow of charge, the faster it goes in and out the better it will perform, look at how a turbo works it pumps in and sucks out...smile

liking the boost port idea where did u find that pic?

found it while googling pics of "tzr 4dl sp" been trawling the net loads to get as many reference pics as possible to try and size them up? think fuggie on here had a go at doing them but could only get to one? tis o sod figuring it out BUT.... i think with a little thought its do-able. got some more pics off the club dtr portugal site,i saw the port measurements on there and dint book-mark it like a gimp lol

they almost look like they could be drilled from the exhaust port on a drill stand (once the agles are figured out) and then grind thru from the cylinder to connect them? or am i talking horse ****e lol?

yeah they look very nice them extra ports ,any thing can be done with the right tools, to port 2 strokes proply u need a right angle  drill like dentists use, and theres now soft ware to do the mapping in 2d to transfer on to the barrel with port maps, will post sum pics later of what i mean

lol great minds think alike karnage lol i ordered one of those yesterday biggrin bit cheaper than $700..... and cheers the only way for that link. he's cut a huge amount of metal away confuse i'll have a look through that and see what i can use on my own. did think about having the liner pressed out. would make it far easier to do the boost ports... i think the sp has a nikasil plated bore from what i've read? just a pity you cant get sp heads,we'd all be happy....

high comp heads in two strokes only give a boost in the lower rev range

probably why they did it with the sp to make up for the lack of bottom end

styles and methods of tuning goes on forever some intresting reading, but gets a bit complex for me

bit i find mad is eric gorr quotes in his hand book

2 stroke tuning and maintanence goes a long way and a gp level tuned bike, is a machine on the verge of destroying its self every time its run , bearing in mind a gp level bike running up to 12500 rpm the piston moves up and down the bore at 166 times a second !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thats mind blowing !!

youve still got to get all the measurements

thats probably the hardest bit

otherwise calculations and parameters set you guidlines and where to improve

aint that the truth! still searching lol the cylinder base port measurements can be calculated from a photo (resize the photo so the bores the right size and measure off the screen lol) shouldn't be too far out. its the other sizes though (and if they reshaped the ports or not)
