Not for your DTRE, the older CDI's came with no restrictions. Fitting and older CDI will mean messing with your loom etc to accommodate it.

There's just normal (older ones) then restricted (newer) ones, no such thing a de-restricted CDI's smile

 

 What year is that DTR you're building?

All you'll need to worry about is your reed switch and exhaust, the 03 CDI's fine

Head off to the exhaust section and ask in there man or read a few threads regarding stock pipes. You'll get a better response than in here. I personally don't know as I run a DEP.
