After i finished my topend rebuild the other week i was filling up the rad and bleeding the system i went to top up the expansion bottle and the coolant that was already in there looked like it has not been circulating for ages it was dirty and there was like a tide mark that had formed in the expansion bottle is it even needed or ould i remove it thanks.
my off roader doesn't have one. think a few people on here have removed it. its one plus point is it bubbles when your head gasket pops for an early warning

I wonder why its there though if the coolant in the expansion bottle is not being used.
