jus bought a 3MB barrel and head off here. I wanted to send it away to get rebored and maybe tuned a little. Does anyone know of any good places to send it to? I was thinking about PJ Engineering looks pretty cheap, has anyone used them before who could give a review?
i've used them a couple of times as my local engineer is slooowww. good standard of work and a good turn around when i used them (posted and back in under a week on one of them )
You could look at stan Stephenson. Type that in to google. They do porting and stuff. Lots of people have used them. Be interesting to see if it gives much power.
And its not a company. He's a renounded 2 stroke mechanic. He does all the work himself. He mainly works on rd350s and 750 triples now i believe. I was told he did the engine work on my rd350 before i bought it but alot of people say that stan stephens did work on their bike as his work is so good. He usually marks the stuff he does i think. For a re bore i wouldnt go to him but for porting and bottom end work he's the man to go to.
Sorry this is off topic. But norfe is that your bike in the picture(road legal cr 125?)..If so whats it like thinking of registering my cr 125 for greenlaing.cheers louis
I'm sure i read that on his website but can't see it there anymore. Did say he would be mainly taking on jobs on 750 triples and 350lc engines. Maybe he's changed his mind.
thats right dude stan has now retired, im in the same predicament as the original chap i need a a rebore but dont know where to send it!
The engine was rebuilt by stan 10 years ago to stage three and am know dubious on who to take it to since he retired as i dont want his work comprimised, i just want it refreshed nothing major.
cheers seiki, ended up sending it away to pj will let you know. Did contact mick abbey quoted me £130 + postage ain bad but not really got that money right now.
Maybe ill send the barrel i take off to him when i get some more $
Goodluck with PJ, ordered an oversized piston and they sent the wrong one
Ended up having to drive down myself and get the new one as the barrel couldn't get re bored until I had it to make sure the tolerances were perfect
Mate also had his engine rebuilt by them, now it overheats as soon as you ride down the road. I now have to strip it and look what's going on chances are it could be rad / leaking coolant somewhere but you never know what they might have done to it

Head / Barrel surfaces were warped. Chances are he just sent the barrel and asked for the next size up piston and re bore so they probably aren't to blame
Seem to get a lot of business so I'm sure they are fine

The warped head and cylider comes from overheating.
It's not something they'd do during the rebore. It's more likely it was warped when you sent it off.
