I took the project bike down the road this evening and after a few seconds hard acceleration the bike started stuttering a bit so eased off and it died. As i was still coasting along with the clutch in i let it out and managed to restart it although the stutter was still apparent (also made a single back fire noise type noise although not very loud).

I rode it back up the road a bit easy ad then tried a hard acceleration again with the same result. Initial pull is wicked but then it starts to stutter.

Got it back in to the garage and had a look at the plug and if anything it is a bit lean so would this explain it? The bike has a standard front de restriced pipe and a big one can, standard air filter but the housing has had holes drilled in it.

The only other clue may be the single back fire type noise although it was not loud and not quite a bang which i would expect if i had a timing issue. Also it runs fine on start up and when blipping the throttle.

I might try and see if i can do a video of it tomorrow as a picture paints a thousand words!
