Dealer had fun getting undone. Not had one seized like that for many yrs!!! No charge though. Need to swap internals to other new leg now and then fit new blue fork gaiters that I have. Debating to order new side panels from Portugal at moment to match front and rear fenders? But that's mainly cosmetic **** I need to sort. Just want engine started. Itching. Although I did connect battery and turn ignition on and the powevalve servo did its thing. Little things eh

forks filled with some putoline fork oil today- new oil pipe for pump fitted, new air filter- primed with oil and fitted.double checked carb, airbox tightened correctly- although my throttle doesnt seem to slide back now? when i twist- it doesnt spring back?? checked to ensure that cable not trapped? perhaps new cable time??

Clutch cable assembeled today -but seems i might new new one as fraying etc?

new horn fitted- much louder than stock one too :p

Need new throttle grips too...any one recommend some decent blue ones please?

still considering ordering new side panel from same guy in portugal yet?? cant make mind up? current panels have some scratches but could cover with stickers- although i didnt want loads stickers all over?? any thoughts?

need to fit the exhaust and silenecer on then fill gearbox oil and 2t oil- then ready to attempt a fire up :p anticipate a few problems with my carb- airscrew half out and unable to adjust just to knackered head??? shouldnt effect the starting and running though should it?

too busy at work to mess about this week so will have to wait.

loves a new cable me.

makes your clutch/throttle easier and lighter, you'll wonder why you put up with old cables for so long b

worth checking the routing on your throttle 1st though, might just be a tight bend somewere?

A white seat looks nice, but the slightest mark shows up no end.

BTW thats one of those replacement seat covers from Felipe over in Portugal, £15 quid I think it was, took mine to a bloke who shaped the foam, cut out the 'YAMAHA' and put in a Green vinyl insert underneath then fitted the seat cover all for a tenner.

new clutch cable ordered, alongside new small indicators x4...also ordered new set of plastics- new side panels and new radiator/oil plastic panels-

considering ordering new clutch whilst doing the cables? is it worth doing? or just wait to see how it runs?

Have put the new rear fender and front fender on and also new polisport headlight- just needs adjusting slightly. fitted gaiters which look lot better too!

Keeping look out for airbow rubber without the bottle hole and few other things on ebay? hopefully April be the month i start this baby? hopefully should be good with new engine rebuilt- got another spare engine here anyways with all new bits incase it pops hahaha

need to purchase new stickers for radiator/oil panels- been advised that Portugual guys stickers are different?? anyone know anything different?

Tis nice in white. But like Nev said already white marks so easily, white trainners are bad enough to keep clean. I could imagine how long that would last riding round with that on in brums smog for a week or two.

But you can`t help but like the colour does look lovely  smile

use almost anything as a temp fuel tank I use empty clean washing up liquid bottles you need to make a breather hole on them thou or they cause a vacume .

love the white seat but that would last 5 mins with me and oily fingers

took the tank to fuel station when i filled the car-0 only stuck £2.70 in so should e plenty for now...anyways

well she started after about 5mins of frantic kicking- got a coolant leak from the bottom pipe...seems the clip thing thats on doesnt seal it well enough on the metal coolant pipe.. also very tiny leak of oil from the gearchange seal there? is that easy to change? and the big thick gasket on left hand side of engine- not sealing corectly-slight oil around there too

no other leaks etc, was a little worried as took about 10-15mins to idle by iteself coupled with a knackered carb- the airscrew is nearly all the way out but all chewed so not going anywhere.. will this cause slightly eratic idling and slight bogging??

no odd noises etc to be heard

seems i also need new igntion barrel as the one fitted is slightly dodgy in that if key is slightly off the mark then it refuses to start and servo doesnt operate then??

well just done myother fork seal tonight...gets easier the more times you do it :p

Received my Vapor Speedo today...nice bit of kit...installed the magnetic screw onto my wheel-removed my old clocks and remainder of igntion barrel in order to measure up some sort of mount!

need to get some new clips for the coolant pipes..anyone know where to get them cheap and the correct size??

Waiting for gearchange seal to arrive..hopefully should be easy job to change? Also other carb should be here next few days too :p busy days ahead

Still havent been able to solve the problem with my rear indicators...in that they dont fit under properly?? contemplating to get the dremel out and modify the rear mudgauard slightly??

Most pound shops sell a selection of wire and nylon brushes in a pack of about 6, a selection of small and large wire brush wheels that go into an electric drill are pretty useful too.

ok carb received but wasnt as described!!! dont you just hate that???

but idle screw and airscrew intact and fully working..bottom half of carb was damaged- so used my other one to make good one out of this..it also had a 210 main jet-which i have replaced with my 240 jet. Gave it good clean inside- now need to give clean outside...is it best to use toothbrush and white spirits? dont have access to a ultrasonic cleaner?

bits left to do now..

Seat recovering
fit vapor- mate works in metal works- so gonna get template made and he will sort for me :p
possible search for a grab rail?? not sure yet
wire up indicators- which are all fitted now
Sort out my front brake
Grease rear suspension parts
New AC-10 rear tyre and tube

And then i think will be good for MOT :p

Get a can of carb cleaner Dread, comes in an aerosol and a tube/straw, so that you can fire a bit of pressure into the jets, and nooks and crannies of the carb.
As for cleaning the outside of the carb, always gone for Paraffin myself, plus a can of carb cleaner. toothbrush or a copper wire suede brush.

The main thing with using paraffin is that it isn't volatile, petrol is, it doesn't evaporate as petrol does, infact if you leave it for a few hours, all the crap settles at the bottom of the cleaning bath/container, and if you are careful, you can pour the clear paraffin that stays at the top back into a container, and re-use for cleaning again.
If using petrol at least do it outside not in a workshop/shed, as a mate of mine suffered 3rd degree burns while working on a car in his garage, and a stray spark ignited fumes from an open petrol container, he lost a nice car in the fire too. This weather were having at the min, where its cold and windy outside, people will be preferring to work in sheds or garages with the door shut, and using petrol, and the fumes generated from it in that situation, can be a tad dodgy.

Well thought id get started on electrics.. sorted all indicators with new relay. Plumbed in tail tidy correctly . Carried out light mod so that lights come on without engine running. Put bullet connectors on wires but think i am gonna solder and cover instead. Extra loud horn plumbed in and working.. halo headlight, working great too. Awaiting new ignition barrel at moment, then mate gonna sort my template for vapour unit, gonna fasten yo bars for now to get MOT sorted and then i can tidy up... coming together now!!

new ignition barrel arrived 10mins ago..fitted and works alot better than previous one :p Still sparking when switched on unlike previous one- which didnt spark when switched on-dodgy cpnnection!

Fitted Vapour speedo to my bar for now till get mount done.
Bit of pain trying to fit speedo sensor- manual states to drill on caliper -had to fix onto lower fork leg, but it uses the disc brak cover fixing points- so had to modify the cover to fit and try and route wire correctly.

Spinning the wheel activates the speedo..so glad that works- not wiring the temp/rpm yet until i get it MOT then i can tidy up

Decided to stick tank on and started the beast..no leak except gearchanger seal....only very tiny leak. Took lot of messing about with carb to get ticking over..different carb and had to put my bigger jets in. After 20 mins or so i got it right.ticking over smoothly now. Switched oil pipe to reeds to a clear pipe...had lots of bubbles in and took while to come through properly but sorted now and will be able to see if problems in future with feed.just need to fit new clutch lev3r with my new cable and bleed front brake, fit my chain and just give quick clean over. Then mot and once done i can do all the little bits left

Have a look at HEL for braided hoses, they have a choice of colours/coverings too, about £55-£60 front and rear mind.
