Alright guys just went to replace exhaust bolts going into cyclinder head, after I removed the lefthand one after checking it fits I had coolant leak everywhere so im guessing I've damaged a pipe of something insead the head just wondering if any of you know what this could be ? Bikes an 07 RE .
Oh dear never felt any resistance. The new bolt appeared to be the same lenght aswell, will this be fixable or am I goin to have to fork out for a new cylinder? Thanks
That's the only thing it can be if that's where it's coming from. It my be the case that the exhaust stud always had a hole in it and it blocks it off. I'm not a 100%
Will put some photos up and yes normal bolt tightened it up and when I took it back out coolant went eveywhere just my luck! Found a cylinder original bore for 60 never been used.

Yep, although ive not heard of it happening before, sounds very much like the stud had pierced the water jacket in the cylinder. I'm suprised though as really the thread should have stripped or stud sheared before the stud pierced the jacket. Are you sure you put a stud in a not a standard bolt? The stud should have 2 different length threaded sections with a smooth un threaded thinner section in the middle.
For a 2nd hand cylinder you'll be looking at paying around £40. A rebore around £25 A new piston around £45 A small end bearing £8 A top end gasket set £20
Delivery charges to send the barrel off will probably take you up to a total of around £150
So just to be clear for others ,it was a bolt tha was used for th cylinder-manifold fixings ?...this could save others from doing th same,anyhow sad to hear of ur bad luck fella ,chuck some photos up of th bore etc and I'm sure it's not so bad,if you have cracked th jacket it can be welded and sleeved for less than a new cylinder +rebore+etc+etc lol,you've come to th right place my friend haha

That's a wicked price if unused but before u lay any funds out let the lads on here see it lol we got some good info and someone on here might have one for less than that and if they r on here least u know they are ratted in the forum ...happy days
If you have found a NOS cylinder for 60 quid bite his arm off my friend! Even if you dont use it, stash it away and it'll just rise in price in years to come. Its worth double that as it is imo.
Its getting posted tommorrow and ordered a piston etc so started stripping down earlier got the cylinder off can't see the damage though going tohave another look.
I can get some for u no visible damage still to remove powervalve so don't know if I'll see anything once that's out, what's the bedt eay to clean thep?
