Bought a gutted standard front pipe other day put it on over my ebay pattern but lost all topend power so cut it open (as im a fabby) and still had 1 restrictor attached and over loose so took them out and stiched it back up went for a blast 2day an still felt resticted no power atall after 6k just wants me change up a gear :s any ideas??
Ive had my fingers up outlet n valve is flush with top worked fine on pipe i had on b4 (ebay pattern) am on standard jetting but with a dtre carb and inlet don't think thatd matter?? Only other thing is the honeycomb stuff coating inside of expansion would that make much power loss?
K pal al stay after work n rip it out 2mz see if that helps. Also done like 25,000 on standard piston an rings and nipped it up twice from forgeting to connect oil feed up lol but still starts 2nd kick n runs ok might be lacking power from that? Get a few flat spots when running big one or ebay pattern exhaust
lol piston and rings should be changed at 10.000 miles, might be due a rebore and new piston/rings big one's are crump.... no low down power and leave 6th useless. a gutted standard sould rev too about 10500 revs and a nice spread of power. dep are nice but expensive... arrow are meant to be the shít. defo worth checking jets too as calum suggested
Cheers will sort exhaust out 1st as ran quite well with ebay pattern on would rev out in 6th downhill so jetting n pv must be fine. Then will save up n invest on piston kit wisco is menna be best isnt it? How much oversized you fink i should go?
like fuk are they av used them before and their s h i t thats y their 40quid yam, wossner and wiseco are diffrent class get about 3times the miles before you need a rebuild
I've done like 5K on my original bore with the mitaka. Ramp it everywhere. Always warmed up always fully synthetics and its absoltely fine. SO long as you do the same you'll be alright mate.
That's bollócks, ignore that mate. I've done 10k on my Mitaka since last summer when i rebuilt my topend after 20k+. I literally thrash my bike 24/7 every time i'm out on it and i've had zero problems. Like Cal said as long as you WARM your bike up properly and for a good period of time before you thrash it and use a good grade of oil then it doesn't really matter what piston you use, as long as it's a genuine brand.
thanks was getting worried arent wiseco and wossner for competition use? surely having thses pistons would mean a rebuild quicker than a mitaka one would
Yeah they are. I wouldn't reccomend anything other than a mitaka unless you're running a heavily modded/tuned engine. Just a waste of money imo. They're more pricey and take even longer to warm up so not really worth it. There's more negatives than positives. All my local garages said the same, not worth it and won't run as good because they're a high spec competition piston.
It's like putting a Ferrari badge onto a Mini Cooper lol.
