Hi - as I am going to be using my soon to be rebuilt dt125r engine in a totally different chassis, today I spent some time looking at how to re-route the exhaust around the scooter that it is going into. I have a contact in Germany who makes a variety of tuning 2T exhausts for various different bikes but mostly Vespas. I would love to get him to make me a custom pipe but he's in Germany, my bike is in the UK and it would cost too much anyway. He has told me that it is certainly possible to cut and shut an expansion pipe to change the routing without major problems in function - in fact, when developing new pipes, he will quite often make a straight version first whilst prototyping to fit to an engine in a stand, when satisfied with the results, he will then work on the routing to fit the pipe to the engine when in the chassis.
So, that got me thinking - the dt125r exhaust follows quite a bendy route, so I started looking at other exhausts that could be butchered more easily - TZR125 pipes. They look like better candidates that will require less alteration to be made to fit my application.
I am unsure though if they will have the same fitment to the exhaust port of my 3MB barrel - can anyone either confirm or deny that the exhaust header fitment is the same on the TZR and DT?
Sorry its a bit of an odd question but then I am working on quite an odd project....
Many thanks

You say you're putting it into a scooter? If so that is going to be mad quick!
I believe the underslung TDR/TZR exhaust should fit the 3mb0 cylinder.
Hey Calum - thanks for that, I'm hoping someone will have a tzr exhaust and a 3MB barrel to hand to confirm, as I don't want to make an expensive **** up...
Really intresting project, the two clear pipes are plumbed into the coolant system at the head and warm the carb so it doesnt freeze, practicle if you live in siberia.
