Gearing. Choice of bike. Bugger all compression. Most restrictive cdi. Still does 80mph. Pulls like it always has and gets there very quickly. But won't flip if i accelerate hard in first or second by no means. Could if you really pulled and sat far back.

Also i'm finding unless i hit the powerband through the gears and ride it into the next one the bike won't pull very well even with the servo. Ok for 1-3. But higher gears you need to get that engine to pull through to 9k rpm.

As soon as the engine is tuned it'll be alright me thinks (hopes)

And that. I'm a shocking rider! Really need to book some lessons. Not only am i deadly i'm also sloW and not as aware as i should be. Needs to change!

Rider counts for a lot IMO and experience. My mate ripped me up when he was on his honda cg125 round a tracK. Straights i had him but corners i didn't stand a chance.

Yeah Cal you do suck at riding tbh but yeah same here bro my DT has never wheelied off power at all, not with any gear set up aswell, i think it's just cursed. Still pulls well but even like you say you have to thrash it to go anywhere really but that's a 2 stroke for you :P it might lift slightly in first if i pin it but that's about it, pretty fúked up really. Don't give a shí though selling her soon and getting my dream bike so idgaf, i'll power wheelie all day then.

Yeah man.

Just really want to get the first part of the build done. The thing you really ought to do first. Powdercoat all yer bits. That's whats going to be at the start of this build thread and it'll end with all the trick bits. Engine build in the middle. Just need a solid income and a car to transport all the bits.

This DT has gone further than I could have imagined. The money spent on it is ridiculous! Not even worth it. Great fun though. So suppose it's worth it in that sense.

It looks better in the photos than it does in real life lmao. I managed tobtouch the photos up to hide all the damage and nicks.

But it still buts a big grin on my face.

Thanks.

Project thread updated but it's literally just copying over all the 4DL unmaintained stuff now into this thread as I feel I have made enough progress with it.

But for most of you who have skimmed through it it's nothing new.

Tell you what.

Went on a standard DTR last night. And OMG what a difference this supermoto setup has made. The bike in every way shape or form is just immensely better! (Bar fuel economy lmao!).

Because it took me 7 months to build I'd forgotten what it is like to ride a standard DTR. But my mate picked one up on sunday (2001) and yeah massive difference.

Mine has more power, Better handling and the brakes are just superb! I'm really pleased with it now.

The USD conversion is just gorgeous as well. So stiff compared to that standard DTR. Really am pleased.

Maybe your's has low compression mine will powerwheelie easily in 2nd, first is flip mode lol.

or maybe that conversion put's too much weight on the front or something

Nah the front end is probably lighter with ally wheels and ally forks. Those forks are surprisingly light.

That or the DT front end is quite heavy.

It was more to do with the fact the DTRE ignition is just crap! The Zeeltronic has improved the power delivery ten fold! The bike will nicely power wheelie in 1st or 2nd. Probably will have to slip the clutch for any other gear. But I don't wheelie anyway. Although I'm finding it will no lmao!

Yeah thought that myself earlier in the year, compression is spot on though, bore/piston is mint.

Back when I posted that, I now know that my rear shock was totally shot, my rear wheel was shot aswell and my spark plug was loose and blowing, aswell as having a warped head, i'm pretty sure i know the reason now wink hahahahaha.

So hopefully fingers crossed we shall see a difference when she's back on the road, as i've fixed all of those problems now :)

Should be back on the road in the next 2 weeks or so. (even though i've said this to all my mates 100+times over the last 4 months lool)

But I promised myself i would finish the pimping this year and i'm sticking to that smile

Seriously need a huge update of pics, so everyone expect some in the next week or so. Got a few stockpiled.

Just finishing off some last bits of painting now, degreasing the remainding parts of the bike and boom, show bike condition soon :P

Hahaha all in good time lads! Looking to get her fully finished this year and by that I mean down to a T how i've always wanted her, never been far off but when you're obsessed with a bike then there's never too much ocd available wink hahaha, even replacing simple things that are crapped up or those dodgey yammy fixings for stainless, puts a grin on my face! Love scraping back all that road/chain/2-t gunk anf actually being able to see the nice shiney shiney underneath and my engine numbers lol wink

So my new ignition is here. The bike is currently undergoing repairs. After my sister reversed into it and cause £200+ worth of damage I am now left to pick up the tab. (women ey?)

But whilst the MOT's expired and now I'm on holiday I may as well sort a few things out. I've decided two things.

1. I want to return the DT back to standard - I want a new bike
2. I want a car - Still use the bike to commute to work but want a car for fun

This has left me in a predicament; the car I want isn't exactly cheap, my bike desperately wants powder coating and there aren't enough hours in the day.

Whilst I can't do anything about the last 1 the other two I can. I've started saving for both the car and my new bike. I have enough for the bike. But am waiting till I have enough for both before I buy one. No hurry anyway. It's not raining at the moment so no need to worry about rust.

I could have done without replacing the fluid reservoir and the levers, and the pegs, however I didn't have much choice. The bike is back to the frame in my garage and I'm taking it back to the metal. Wow, is the paint really THIN or what on my DT. Did Yamaha even bother with a first coat or is this it?

I've primered it and spray it. Tomorrow my bodge job repairs are finished and it can hide underneath the panels. But I've now got to deal with the, eager to learn but upset me. Unfortunately when the bike was nicked an, inexperience, although eager, me was left in charge of the repair work. DOH! I've decided that I am not happy with my rookie ways. Whilst stripping the bike I've also undone these 'bodges' in the hope that this time I will do a better job. Well here's hoping anyway.

The bike is going to be rough, but at least it's not rusting, for another year. Or however long it takes for me to find the Dream car.

I won't give it away, but the car I am looking for, and am already a member of the forums, is a little 1.3 Jap car. Bonus points to anyone who gets it.

What bike you selling the DT for? Any ideas yet?

Kind of a shame after rebuilding the TZR engine for it. But needs are a must. I'll sell my DT right now for a bigger bike, as long as I could get legal on it.

To be honest Luke it is more about the journey than the product. Plus I never said I was selling it. just turning it back to standard(ish).

I'm saving up for a DT230. I 'm then transferring all of my bits onto the 230 and vice versa. So the dt will end up with ally wheels on the standsrd forks. I love my dt I just want the 230.

Oh, I see.

So you'll still be on a DT, just a 230. Are they any/much faster than the 125CC?

Toy had one and sold it cheap a while back. A Lanza IIRC.

Yeah he did have one. I was not looking for one at the time but wish I find one like his. I don't want a perfect one. One to do up is what I'm after.

The 125's are quick. And mine more than most. I'm happy, however It will only ever be a 125 and I would love to have my bike looking exactly the same but bigger cc. The 230 might just do the trick. Okay they are only about 20 bhp but it's more of a starting point than the 125. Spoke to Borut about getting a Zeeltronic for it. Send the cylinder to Mick Abbey because he's done a cracking job of the 125 barrel. and a bigger carb. Get another underslung for it. probably get like 26 bhp out of it.

If it sucks then again I'm sure I would have had fun.

Also I went in to skellerns Yamaha today to talk about cooling. The engine is running too hot! I've got to somehow get it cooler. It's running at about 90 degrees in this weather which is far too hot!

Im sure the 230 will have much more torque than the 125, you cant have over 100cc extra and not notice much difference, add 20cc more you've got double the sze of the 125... Im sure you wouldn't be dissapointed

Put a fan on the rad? Could try a different plug aswell.

I laughed at that suggestion a while ago. Now I'm not sure.

I've got some spare aluminium radiators. When the frame goes for a respray I will get some cheeky brackets made up.

l am hoping the 230 will be okay. Once it has got a Zeeltronic and some porting work, bigger csrb etc should be a good laugh. Should.

Its probably something to do with one of the many mods you have made as to why its running too hot, maybe your just not going fast enough for there to be any breeze lol
