Athena is good to use. But you really ought to be 100% sure it's Athena. Otherwise it will just overheat and warp the head and cylinder again :/

Athena gaskets are all good, I'd certainly vouch for them for both quality and prices, I go direct to their Italy site to buy my gaskets, the Euro is at a good price compared to the Pound, base gaskets are about £4.75, and Head gaskets work out at around £8.50, post was cheap too iirc.

Usually the pattern ones are grey silver. If in doubt mate is it really worth it for a tenner?

Just saves you whipping the cylinder off again. If it were me I would buy genuine Yamaha and keep that as an emergency gasket. I've got emergency bits in my garage. Just in vase the bike seizes and I want it shot ill just bang it together and flog it.

fill it with coolant straight away, dont run it without!

generally people do 3 heat cycles of starting the bike and letting it idle for 15 minutes or however long they choose then letting it cool completely
