Clean the plates, reassemble and run it on 5W40 oil. I had the same problem.

Dam Scrim you need to stop letting these works of art go.

You seem to have an amazing ability and real patience to collect whats left out there of the original parts and get these bikes back to how they rolled out the factory.

It would be a shame to see them in the wrong hands.

p.s did you get that red one finished?

No mate not yet, I've got everything for it though a lot of it down to you putting me onto the new tank that got me the bike from the same bloke and you selling me your Red stuff it will get done over the winter though. Ive been working on an 81 DT175MX and an 83 DT125LC MK1 recently the 175 is finished all but the engine and exhaust need fitting as it needs a bottom end rebuild. Ive just about finished the LC also it only needs a few ods and ends exhaust heat shield and a sump guard and its finished.

I have to sell them eventually to pay for everything it aint cheap and takes forever tracking stuff down for them. Its not easy like it is for the newer bikes. It took over a year just to find one side panel decal for this 90 White DTR people don't realise stuff like that these things are a real labour of love and not just another bike its a collectors item.

As for selling it I aint really tried yet, its not been on ebay or anything and no one on here is interested in it. The price people ask for these I think 2000 quid is an absolute steal for all the effort that's gone into it, its literally a brand new bike now and like I said its not just building the bike its hours and hours of tracking all the specific parts down. Stupid things like for instance a genuine Yamaha Red seat strap that most people would not even notice...............

So basically if I would of kept those red parts and held out till I found that tank id have... I joke

Glad to see your keeping yourself busy though and getting your other projects done.

I understand how hard it is to source these parts and get them in one place, which is why I said is such a shame to see them go. Money sucks

Selling a bike you built is gut wrenching, watching some half ass nit pick your hard work for a few £ with no appreciation.

On the other hard... Looking at those new shiny parts on a bike you know you built and just knowing it's one of kind, is something else biggrin

keep up the good work

Yep it is satisfying when they finally get finished, I have no problem not selling them to people. I told my mates 17 year old son that I could not get a mint Black N reg running before so I didn't have to sell it to him because I knew what would happen to it. Just unplugged a wire on the cdi he couldn't wait so bought a piece of s**t for 1500 quid and wrecked it. The N reg went to a bloke who still has it and I still keep in touch with him the bike had a lucky escape.

Don't know if anyone was watching but she's sold, could have done with a few hundred quid more by the time the fees are paid on it. Its just not worth the effort.

Yes I was watching it with interest! I wondered what you'd find acceptable too. Hey ho, did the buyer view it? Did anyone actually view it? I'm always amazed at how people buy something for a fair amount of cash, just from a few pics. Still, it hasn't stopped me doing it...
I took mine to Stafford...and brought it back again. Initial interest was high, but that was just the other stallholders looking for something pretty to take home or make a quick profit on. Sod them, I want that!

No nobody actually came to see it, the people who did say they were coming to see it or said they would bid didn't. I just got loads of people asking for delivery or making offers I wouldn't accept. Anyway its going to a local buyer just a few miles from me so I will probably see it kicking about ! See what happens with the Red one in a week or so.

I did a few little jobs on this tonight for the bloke who bought it off me the other week, fitted a new DEP pipe some Acerbis neoprene fork gaiters a set of mini indicators re jetted the carb and fitted a set of Hy tech racing reeds.

Everything went OK but the bike would not start, not even attempt to start with the Hy tech reeds in it. No fuel what so ever was getting through at all bone dry plug. I took them back out and refitted the standard reeds and it started first kick again.........

They cost him 35 quid and look identical to the standard ones to me except for being a darker colour, anyone else ever used these and had a problem ? I have told him to send them back and get his money back. Seem like a pile of s***e to me !

I've had two pairs and never had a problem. Inknow norfe said that they can be a little too big and require trimming.
