Boxing, my GSXR 400 is still to date best bike i've owned, you wont regret it, get the GK76A and the SP version if you can, with fully adj front sussy and shocker, i had the SP and f me that thing flew!
if you know how to ride, you'll be able to keep with the 600s and take over in the twisties!
Will be a while until I could get a GSX-R 400.
Spending all my money on this DT at the moment, and it's got a heap of work to be done come summer, full strip down, respray and restore. Also going to SM it. :D And a bunch of other stuff. We'll see what funds allow when it comes to it though. Will definitely be nailing my theory, mod 1 & 2 soon though. Then just repeat at 19, get a 400CC.
Yup, it's the correct one, the shop ordered it straight from Yamaha with my year and model.
Same problem is on-going, dad tried to adjust the power-valve to no success.
So I took it to a mechanic, and one of them had a DTR before, and he looked around the bike, gave it a rev hit the limiter and said it's all bogged up, I told him its had a recent top end rebuild, he said to return once the 100 miles mark is on, then he'll set it up and have it going 70-80MPH.
Still going to be going 30 on it to run it in for the remainder 400 miles, but it's bogging down in 6th and stalling, I can't be having that with cars up my ass.
i hate people up your a*se, i had this one tool up my arse on a newly surfaced road and he overtook me because i wasnt going fast because i felt the back end twiching and he kicked all the stones up in my face so i followed him till he stopped and knocked on his window and went why did you do that theres a 10mph speed limet for a reason and his excuse was that he was trying to get away from me as fast as he could so the stones didnt hit me

I have the bottle, lol. I fitted it, sorted out some of clips going on to the pipes on the carb, took it for a spin, same problem all sound no power.
Tried adjusting the powervalve with the engine off, still same problem.
Took it to a mechanic, he revved it and said it's all clogged up. I'm guessing he wants me to run it in first so he can bounce it off the limiter to clear the engine. Smoked the whole road out when he hit the limiter for a maximum of 5 seconds, lol.

I just pull into the side of the road and do a pointing forward motion with my right hand to get them to over take, then when I reach them near the traffic lights I filter a few cars ahead of them.
I usually lose them on red lights etc, so I don't have them up my ass again.

well its getting to be a mystery ,have you locked it open yet?
BTW, anything else to check with the tank etc off, I'll do the exhaust and airfilter checking first, last resort will be to strip it all down to get to the reeds, my dad is already moaning about having to get the coolant out again.
Hopefully will be a small fix, apparently you can turn the reeds around or something and reuse them if they're showing daylight? Or so someone with a ZIP 50 said.
The way i herd was you put it in neautral and rev it hard for about 30 secconds ? if im wrong please correct me

So it could be a transmission problem ? like there is power there just the gears cannot put it on the road ?

hmm, i dunno tbh, but you say when in neautral you can rev it and im not sure on this but i think the guys said you can rev it a bit if its in neautral because theres no stress on the engine (dont take my word for it thats what ive herd)

Something is not right at all. What the mechanic said makes no sense.
My bet now would be that the carb isnt set up properly mate. The way you tell is by doing a plug chop.
The bike should happily do 50mph whilst running in 6.
I highly doubt that you've lost a gear. It would only be possible if the bike left the factory faulty or if someone has had the bike apart before and messed with the gearbox.
Now we can rule out the boost bottle we can start fault diagnostics mate.
For now ride carefully and i'l come up with some ideas.
The bike has had new sprockets and chain, the previous owner couldn't have gone down a cheaper route sourcing sprockets and put the wrong sizes on making it go slower? But mind you, that wouldn't stop it from revving past 7K RPMs. :/ Hmm.
I'll see what this mechanic has to say, and get him to tune the carb up tomorrow. It's a hazard to continue riding like this. I can't be stalling out and going through gears and down to 20MPH in 40 zones. :/
Anyway, watch this space I'll be back tomorrow to tell you what's up with it if the mechanic agrees to give it a once over.
And the mechanic said it was all blocked up / bogged up. Something along them lines, it was a while back I was more concentrated on the part of him saying "Drop it by after you've done 100 miles and I'll have it going 70-80MPH for you."
Also, plug is fine, I pulled the cap off after it bogged down in 6th, and it was all fine, no black marks or fouled, and it was starting fine, if it was fouled up, it wouldn't start?
You need to do a plug chop. Amd that will trll us exactly what is going on.
By the sounds of things its either too much fuel. Or too much air.
Take the seat off. See the top of the airbox? Is there a rubber snorkel in there? If not. Maybe you need one. If there is. Take it out. Go up the road and tell me what the performance is like.
If its better then you have too much fuel to air. If its worse you have too much air to fuel.
Theres lots of things i can suggest to get it running better
Amongst other things. The bike in general. How the carb is position in the bike. The carb boot. Just take loads of photos at all angles of the bike and uploD them here so i can have a look.
