Thoughts on non gen gaskets and seals
Permalink

Alright guys

had a few problems with my dt recently and I had to replace head gasket r/h crank seal and water pump seal

I bought all genuine stuff for it and we had a problem when fitting the water pump seal where the spring on the seal decided to come off at one point when we had put it on and after ages trying to pry it back on with tiny flat heads through The tiny hole we had no luck at sorting the problem.

now I need to buy another seal to try it again with, not to keen on paying another £23 for a genuine seal from yamaha so iv found one in eBay that's a tenner, it doesn't look too bad and is still a Teflon one. Link. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YAMAHA-DT125R-WATER-PUMP-SEAL-TEFLON-FAST-DESPATCH-many-other-models-/390590262756?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item5af0fe6de4

not sure wether it's me being paranoid or not but has anyone got any feed back ? Should I save my self £13 or just buy another gen one ?

sorry to ramble on, cheers guys

and no Nath I'm not going to set fire to it.

Pattern seals are ok, its mainly the head gasket you need to get as an Athena or a genuine Yamaha one.
