with no disc in place they will fall out the disc holds them in place once the wheel disc is of dont press the break lever or the piston will come out try to push the piston back in as far as you can or its bloody hard to get the break pads back in place with the disc in place .

maybe get us some pics up and when you say it was in two peices do you mean two pads ? or it was actualy broken in two ?

show us a pic if possible

also my bleed nipple has broken of they always break as long as it was screwd in tight  its ok and will not leak .  think you can buy  a hose bolt with a new nipple on ?

kinda like this

Hi guys, bit of a problem with my rear caliper.

went to remove my rear wheel as i was taking it to get a new tire and the left side pad just fell out the caliper.. was also in 2 pieces as well but im guessing that's just a defective part and nothing to do with the caliper, any way went to check it out and not great with brakes so cant really tell what the problem is apart from the fact the pad isnt secured wat so ever so wont stay in obviously..

guessing i need a new caliper? the bleed nipple has also snapped off so another reason to be replaced

oh ok, yeah i know not to press the brake in which i havent done but it seems to have compressed by itself as i was trying to hold the pad in while putting the disk in the small gap and couldnt do it for ****. was actually broke in 2, the pad part had come away from the metal plate if you get me lol

so there nothing wrong it i just need to try and pry it open more put wheel in while keeping pad in place

yeah its a bugger to push back in I use one of those Sealant Gun things most people have one laying around and great for this job

one of these type http://www.screwfix.com/p/power-pro-sealant-gun/86771?kpid=86771&cm_mmc=Google-_-Product%20Listing%20Ads-_-Sales%20Tracking-_-sales%20tracking%20url&gclid=CKifjbvrz7gCFfMdtAodbBUA9g

even used these in the past with a little bit wood each side and open fully so not to damage realy is a must have tool

maybe try it with the refill fluid cap off you may see it push fluid out or over flow so have a rag ready your working against a air tight system atm it should push in easy with cap open thats how I bleed with out a nipple by pushing any air back out .

looked around for any videos or tutorials but cant find any ... and can be tricky for some I could do it in mins but find it hard to type how to if you get what I mean .

dont try putting them in wilst the caliper is in place it needs to be off the disc put them in place with the little spring clip things if you have them and wilst holding them in place lower the caliper on to the disc

this kinda gives a idea

yeah thats the right idea the wheel in place fit the pads and slide caliper with pads fitted over disc the clip things can help think they are just anti vibration clip things ? we all been there when something gets you mad and I have even hit things with a hammer and fcked the lot up lol best to walk away have a cupa then go back ... once you get them in and done you will look back and think **** why didnt I do that at the start it realy is a simple but fiddly tricky job

you put the wheel into the swingarm with the rear caliper bracket in place with the caliper and pads off then put the pads into the caliper bracket with the 2 little metal clip parts then slid the caliper over onto the pads then bolt up
