Hi guys im new to this forum my name is Sebastian im from london, I just bought a dtx for 500 quid so you could imagine what sort of condition its in, so I decided to strip id down all the way and rebuild it, but since im at it i will be changing some things on the bike, yz 125 rear end ktm exc style front headlight, not sure which fender yet, maybe i can get some ideas from you guys. here are some pics to show you how horrible the bike is, and i have alredy started to strip it, i was thinking white blue color scheme but im thinking go out of the standard colors and do something different, any ideas before i start painting? :D

Got yourself a nice little project there, when you say paint are you doing this yourself or getting it done by a pro?

I've been waiting for someone to do a black and orange or black and yellow theme. Done right I think it would look good.

Why a yz swing? Dtx swing's are quite nice but maybe i'm not seeing the benefit.

I'd get those wheels refurbed. Will look real nice with stainless steel spokes and fresh powdercoat hubs and rims. Then buy bacl the excel rims stickers.

Nice buy though.

bloody hell that bikes had a hard life or seen some fields ...

must state not always the best thing to do is show you full reg on net for many reasons main one is reg plate cloneing some chav will or may use your reg to stick on his stolen off road bike or for petrol runs ect ect .

oh and welcome to the forum keep us updated as your project go,s along

Luckily this part if the forum is members only. And they could get your plate from outside your house so i think it's all relative.

not always the case or true ..

lets say a theif has stolen dtx in that area ?  dont see  many dtx on the roads but can easy find pics of a reg on the net ..

not saying what I think saying what I know for fact coming from a sink estate its common to google image search  a relivant bike to the one they have for field or stolen taking note of the area the bike maybe in  then geting a show plate made up witht hat reg to use on the road  be it for crime or petrol runs ect . if the reg is shecked by passing police car it can come back as insured tax-tested and addressed to that or a local town or city and may not get a pull .

see many bikes and cars with velcro attached plates for this very reason .

thanks guys
sorry i didnt mean a swingarm of the yz, i meant like the tail panels etc.
color wise i cannot get myself around it i have alredy ordered some paints through but im having a change of mind with the color scheme, first it was going to be all black frame blue tank white tail and white front, and maybe a split white blue wheels,
but i dont like blue :D hhahaa, that idea with orange could work , but what are you thinking? range frame and litle bits and the rest black?
any more ideas guys? and i do the painting myself i will show you couple of examples of my previous painting :)
d
and yeah well it mighthave been cheap but it also needs another 500 of parts at least hehehe :D

and yeah maybe its true with that reg, but the same way this shows the reg, its just like when people sell these bikes of ebay,

and im in south west london :)

I dont think so I was cleaning and wipeing my black bikes  much more than I do the white  road dust alone shows up realy bad on black along with grime and smudges or finger prints ..

i know when i looked ad the bike i was like wtf, i had the aprilia standing next to it, i see rear shock with a gas on the aprilia usd forks nice aluminium swingarm, plastick tank, and i was just like what tha hell was yamaha thinking. no wonder the aprilia is nearly 30kg lighter than the dt. I have got a spare shock from the aprilia but it has a different mount at the bottom so not sure if i do modify it if its gonna hold up. and the USDs are the same as in aprilia pegaso and these are preaty cheap, around 75 quid with yokes. but I want to start riding, probaly in the future i will be putting the usds on the bike

common that things snap -seaze or break when stripping and the best item you can buy is good penetrating oil and tons of wd40 give everything a good going over with oil or wd40 and alow to penatrate for a day or so can realy save you time and money .

as for the bits you need sure some one may have some ok used items or post up links for best prices for them
