My new dt125r with 1600 miles from new !

hi i just got a dt125r off a mate who has had it sat in his garden for 6 years ! the bike is a 2002 and was crashed 6 years ago so 2007 ish it had only 1600 miles from new on it and started well considering the petrol had turnt to parafin needs a good clean and service bike was made a CAT B  by insurers as the frame bent so i am on the hunt for a good frame with v5 ASAP!  so i can get out on it

all original and was kept under a cover so in pretty good nick

cheers whats his username? a guy selling a frame on ebay has one but its a isle of man frame and i cant be bothered with the registering malarky dont hav time for that i like your sm wheems :)

found that he says the frame numbers are stamped on by someone so a bit off puting i found a guy called scrimsmustang ? who restores classic yamahas advertising a 2000 frame ive messaged him on his website and here regarding the frame i see hes not been on in a while wondering if anyone knows any other way to contact him

He's quite regular. I know he's got a few hospital appointments and has probably been told not to use the internet. He is fairly regular.

So cat B. Does that mean it's only really good for the bin?

If youre referring to Harrys frame putting you off. He does mention the bike is 100% straight. The guy previous to him who had it was using it..

ahh i see yea cat B means for parts only but the bike is pretty mint apart from the near side panel it fell on on the rear and obviously the back of the frame bent

harrys frame im sure is fine but in london if i get pulled and police check the numbers and they suspect foul play because they are a bit wonkey even ff there isnt any its just hassle i would rather be without tbh

They would just double check with DVLA and you'd be on your way in seconds. The excuse you could use is that it's been powdercoated and needed restamping, which is the case IIRC.

bought a 1998 frame a new stand as was missing as mate sold it to a mate who needed one years ago. also ordered a haynes manual just so handy to have gonna paint frame hopefully next week when it arives build it up change all fluids and fuel system needs a major clean up

frame arrived all looks good and straight need to change barrel on headstock to my one as no key was provided frame will come to work with me tomorrow to get sanded and ready for some paint just original black i think

right finally got a spare bit of time to get in the garage took carb off claned all old fuel out of her bled the oil (i think)

carb was very dirty upon dissasembly and reassemby i noticed a brass washer on the floor after i put carb back to together only place i could find for it was under the main jet before atomizer ?

the float bowl gasket also decided to grow by 1cm some how so i had to finley trim a bit out but would like a new one were is best place to get parts the carbs on thse mines a mikuni water cooled carb

new batterys on charge just waiting for that then will see how she runs

Yeah the washer is with the main jet, how did you clean it, looks really filthy! I would soak it in alloy wheel cleaner like scrim does on here.

toothbrush and carb cleaner all the dirt came off easily enough got her running doesent like to idle off of choke but there was no airbox on starts easy as pie

my god nearly a year since i have been on here.... been waiting for the sunshine lol :) the frame is at the spray shop hopefully be painted this week then i can spend a weekend swaping bits and hopefully get her running right.

funny thing is the new frame has been insured since i bought it lol and just renewed it so dt mode kicked back in :)

I have finally again got around to tinkering with this and am going to start putting everything on my new frame regardless. i am going to overall the carb properly new main and pilot new float and needle a clean then set it all to factory settings have really not had time but just renewed my insurance and figured i should actually ride the damn thing lol hope to start building it onto the new frame next week this one is cat B clearly bent at back
