Looks like you'll have to replace that fuse with correct reed one.

Hmm I dont know if they would work or not havent heard back from yamaha either. However I did quickly whip the powervalve cover and when the ignition is turned on it doesnt quite line up with the key way about 1/2 a cm out would this cause the same issue or does it not really matter.when I got the bike the exhaust side end cap was missing so made one out of a core plug till I can find oneits air tight but obviously not standard

sure there is a guide some where on here for setting up the pv correctly .

beyond the reed switch thing are all other restrictions removed ? do you have a old cdi ect anything like that . I know I could find all this by reading your old posts but dont have the time lol .

tbh I had a mate that had a 03 bike he thought it was the dogs bollox next to my old purple one all clean and shiney and newish at the time but with in days he changed his mind as it would not break 55 mph no matter what he did the mopeds used to leave him standing ..

I spoke to the technician at Yamaha and he did say that there was some DT's that no matter what you did you just couldn't get any power out of them. They were just shocking,

You needed to change the carb, ignition and cylinder.

I believe he said it was early DTR's that ran the 3BN cylinder, 26mm carb and a restricted CDI.

So do u think its worth lining the powervalve back up then or just leaving it will it not being lined up affect the top end power.i did notice a few weeks ago that the noise it makes when hitting the powerband has changed.

All adjusted will take it for a spin tomoro and see if its made a difference. Is it usual for the left cable adjuster to be set alot further out than the right one.as thats the only way I could get the hole to line up

Mine are setup unequal.. To be honest you don't need to go changing cdi,etc etc.
Get the reed done, powervalve aligned correctly.snorkel removed, exhaust sorted and right jetting. You will then have a bike more than capable!! And that's speaking from experience! Mine pulls 80mph plus showing on vapor clocks. More than enough for commuting and green lanes. Although I have changed front sprockets too

After testing the bike today it still wont go past 60 its had both air box derestrictions powervalve lined up correctly new 240 main jet dep exhaust system and cant seem to get a reed switch.however have spoke to the old owner(old school friend) and hes assured me it used to alot quicker.the right hand powervalve cap came off and thats when the bike got slower.i then bought it and plugged the open hole with a core plug.its a airtight fit but only fits in tbe head about 5mm in.do you think this could cause an issue

Have you tried cleaning the air filter. What is the colour of the plug saying.

What sprockets have you got on?

Will try cleaning the air filter tonight and will also count the teeth on the sprocket.would the damaged mixture screw in the carb have any effect on the top end or is the mixture screw on carb just for controlling air/fuel mixture on idle

The air screw will only affect tick over and 1/8 throttle.

Rules that out then can I clean filter with water as thats all ive got at the moment idle does sticka little occasionally and sometimes cut out when ticking over but think thats due to the damaged mixture screw

Did check and adjusted last week might try pinning it open by disconnecting electrics and putting a drill bit in the hole
