When i did my bike test he wasn't too impressed. He was examining the tyre closely. Said it was bold and it needed changing. But didn't see they were on the wrong rotation. There is an arrow pointing the right way.
The reason i have not changed it is that i've got some other tyres i want to buy just need to save some monies. About £250 but lovely pair. Maxxis. The supermoto tyre.
will only get used in nice weather lol, £250 for a pair of tyres on a 125cc is a lot mate, its not like you are going to be pushing the limits of those tyres plus all that work on the suspension has made it handle better than it was new. my commute is only 6 miles each way and the biggest hazard for me would be diesel on the line of 5 roundabouts on a quick stretch of road where doesn't matter what's on the rims if you hit it in the wet your in bother. for you where you live might be beneficial for me not that much to justify that outlay.
The ever optimist ain't you boxing. Not sure where you got those figures from though. They are sought after. They are prone to being nicked yes. But saying they're the most sought after and stolen bike is a big statement.
Be interested in seeing where you got those figures from....
Although his point remains. Do lock it up well. Be a shame for it to go after you spent so long on it.
They were the most nicked bikes in the '90s along with the KDX's. Ask anyone what bikes got nicked around them years.
Doesn't change in these years, all the DTR's are a good 10+ years old so the thieves know they're easy to get going.
They had a high theft rate because there were so many of them about. If everyone had a ford focus then the ford focus would be the most stolen car. The fact that the DT was nicked was because people like me left them unlocked and the availablity of the DT made them easy to find.
The fact now they don't make them anymore the figures CANNOT be the same
Ignition came today, picked up new top bearing and bearing adaptor modelled on Calums design should be done in the morning, hoping to get frame completely stripped tomorrow ready for the powder coaters.
Well didn't get much done at all this weekend, fitted the new top bearing cup and trial fitted the forks, the bottom bearing from the yz forks are not compatible with the dtr bottom race, the bottom taper bearing if it was complete for the yz is 52mm od, 30mm id and 16mm high. the Dtr bottom race is 55mm od and since the dtr bottom bearing was completely shot I didn't bother removing to check id. so now will order a new taper bearing for the bottom tomorrow, 55mm od, 30mm id, 16 high so thats going to be a 32006 bearing.

Not done nowt lately, but just won a 2004 on harness so must make time, just work is 7 days at the moment so work and sleep but at least will provide a few pennies for build
Still not done nowt on bike, have not even had time to go and see it lol. but I have been collecting some more bits and pieces, a 2k oil bottle as i will be returning it to its own mix, a new rear brake light switch, a seat that has a very small rip in it although was advertised as no rips or tears so unfortunately seller no longer has 100% feedback as was a bit of a dick over complaint. a selection of dome head stainless bolts and a full exhaust system, now most of you will be shouting NO but yes its a big one, after all its only going to be a good weather commute bike for work so not going after squeezing every ounce of power from it, and a complete in rather good nick harness. I just need to find some time to finish stripping it so I can get frame and swing arm to coaters. shouldn't be long before I can free some time up and get this project back on track.
On the front light issue was thinking of the Polisport one, any comments on them?
There is someone that im buying another wheels of and he has the light :) but no offence if I'm getting another dt after this is sold that light it's going on that too
