So picked my winter project up earlier today, just about managed to cram it in the back of the combo! First job's gonna be getting the top end sorted, both piston's and cylinders are nackered! Obviously need to have a better look at what caused it in the first place, doesn't seem to be the power valves which is common on these things. Also not sure whether to get them re-coated or re-sleeved, then at least have the option of boring it out if something goes wrong again! Apparently it was a squaddies, he left it at the shop 3 years ago and it's sat there ever since gathering dust. They've also had the engine completely stripped down so need to put that back together while the cylinders are being repaired as well. Can't wait to hear it fired up!

Went down there earlier asked if you'd bought that yet lol. Anyway bit of an update, he happened to have **** load of parts for it. Got a complete engine it's shagged but most importantly the barrels are mint. Whole engine for 150 not complaining!

Nah it's really light cal! Not too much difference to a 125 tbh.

Just paid for the cylinder re-coat and a pair of vertex pistons, £400 all in which I don't think's too bad. Hopefully I'll get the bike tidied up a bit over the weekend and get the rest of the engine sorted out. Can't wait to hear this thing fired up!!

I loved my little rg125 man, good little bikes (although I do hope this thing eats less pistons than it's little brother lol)

Had a look over it, all the electrics seem good, pv works as it should etc. Only thing is the front brakes were binding, I've taken the calipers off might have to take them apart and clean then up, change the seals etc. Gonna get another bottle of that muc off stuff and a tube of autosol and get cleaning while the cylinders are getting re-coated.

So tempted by this as well and go for a modern look! Depends how much I like it when I ride it lol

I was looking at them kits too, but the 125 and 250 don't share as many parts as they look like they do.

In the end I decided against it as once riding it I forget what it looks like.

They do look bloody good though! I might do it, as long as I'll get it back when I come to sell it as I do tend to go through bikes quite quickly lol. Like I said depends how much I like it. Or I might just leave it in a corner gaining value as they're bound to!

Got some nice new shiny parts in the post today! Crankcase is back together, clutch side is mostly back together just need to torque the clutch basket up. Should get cylinders and pistons fitted saturday and hopefully have the engine fully assembled and back in the bike by the end of the weekend, might even get it fired up :D

Hhmm this is borderline. I'll have to confirm this with Seiki but something tells me it might be okay.

Haha! Got a bit done today cylinders fitted, flywheel back on, just need to put the power valves back in and find a 27mm socket so I can do the clutch basket up, only went and left my socket set at work didn't I! Would have got a bit more done today got distracted by the sun and dry roads though lol, short trip out turned out to get some muck off ended up being about 2 hours lol.

Nice and clean!

Engine back together, might of over done the gasket sealant lol

Great project. Coming on nicely. First time I have seen an engine like that it's almost like a v twin. Most are side by side cylinders.

Get a video up when it firsts up would love to see it.

Yeah it is a V twin, hence RGV lol ;)

Anyway got the powervalves back in and clutch re-assembled after hunting down a 27mm socket on facebook lol, left half me tools at work! Casing's back on, and engine back in the bike, nice bit of progress this weekend! Did want to get it running but would rather make sure everything's done properly than rush it. Hopefully I'll get it going in the week though!

yeah my sheds are small also and if I ever needed to have the bike out to work on over night would always make sure the wheels came indoors with me and did not put em back on till the job was done .

Finally got her running :D
Ordered a new choke mechanism so still need to sort that and got a carb rebuild kit on the way as the float needle looks damaged to me.
Then still got to set the oil pump up, power valves up, fill with coolant and countless other bits just to get it rideable.
Then still want to get the wheels powder coated, get some fresh rubber on it and countless other bits and pieces I want to do to it!

Got a few bits and pieces done on sunday, let it run for 5 or 10 mins to get everything moving again, sounds sweet. Couple of problems I've gotta sort out though, looked away for a minute then looked back, temperature had shot up to 3/4! Seems to just be the thermostat but I'm skint till friday so that'll have to wait! And it doesn't seem to want to select 1st, don't think it's anything serious probably just a dodgy selector, have to take another look at that in the week. Other than that seems sweet! Can't wait to hear her at 12k!!

Just realised how long ago it was since I last did anything to this! Anyway sorted my gearbox problem was only the selector needing adjusting, nice and simple! I really want to get the wheels powder coated and some fresh rubber fitted but out of work atm which is pretty **** :/ Gonna get it tidied up the best i can in the mean time. Whole year to go till I can ride it yet so no rush lol
