Got the logbook for this thing and its going back on the road its a one registered keeper from new bike im only the second owner on the logbook, im starting on it soon its going to be White with a Red seat easiest option with the White frame. Checked it on the DVLA website and its only ever been taxed twice last disc ran out in 1992 when it was 2 years old and its never been MOT,d what do people do with these bikes where has it been for the last 23 years. Engine blown then just left all this time ? Who knows.............. Need an engine for it if anyone has one or a decent bottom end will do.

Why white and red? I quite like the red colour. It's a unusual colour. Still see plenty white and red DTR's.

And even if it was two years old, and the engine went, wouldn't it still be under some sort of guarantee/warranty?

With it missing the lights and in a off-road trim, I suspect it was stolen at some point or just used by the owner as a field hack. The story with most DT's. Near enough every single one has been stolen at some point in its life.

White and Red because the frame is powder coated White, the frame should be Silver on a Red bike and there is no point in getting it re done. No its HPI clear so cant see it being stolen as it would be on the list, that's if it was insured and I cant see a 2 year old bike not being insured. As for the warranty it only lasts for 12 months and that's only if you keep up your servicing. It has not been used as a field bike as the wheels are the original spec Black hub type and they are mint no peeling paint on the hubs the spokes are still all shiny with no rust and the spoke nipples are still Gold like new definitely very low mileage items and not what you would find on a field bike. From what I can gather it was originally a Black and Green bike and the bloke I bought it from got it without an engine, he had the frame done White and put new Red plastics on it years ago and it was going to be used as an off road bike for his son but it never happened and just stood in his garage. All the lights and clocks etc where sold on ebay years ago. All I got with it was the wiring loom original taillight and number plate hanger a regulator a brand new chain front rear brake light switches a Haynes manual and a few little odds n ends. So looks like its just stood for 20 od years, it happens the last 89 Greg one I had had stood since it was a year old with 2000 od miles on the clock after the bloke who owned it fell off it and broke his wrist. Then he stook it on ebay when his son didn't want it when he was old enough to ride it and I won it. Ive had an Nreg one with 1000 miles from new off ebay before. Just another lucky find...........

Anyone fancy this, all that's left from the pictures at the start of this thread is the frame. Its powder coated White and in mint condition. I have the logbook its a G reg with one previous owner from new. I will accept any sensible offer, I have most of the correct White plastics and decals all brand new if anyone fancy's a White/Red project bike. I don't really want to sell it but I don't want to build anymore bikes so I want to let it go.

P.S ive got the reg plate also..........

Not too keen on the Motul sticker and the other one. Very clean. Surprised it isn't rocking the standard exhaust.

It did have the standard exhaust fitted but I fitted the arrow front pipe and 2 piece giannelli silencer as they were to cheap not to buy and it sounded lovely and pulled really well with it on....... Anyway it went at the end of September to bloke from York and I gave him the standard exhaust with it. I always stick a few Motul stickers on the old Red/White ones like they did at the bike show.
