Well finally I've done what I wanted to do long before I've owned a gopro, now I own a gopro and I'm back into work now an aircraft engineer we had a bit of a down day today so out of some ally found in the main wing spar i built my mount! Light weight but strong, adhesive mount plus reverred to the ally then countersunk in, let me know what you guys think! Can't wait to test it! 

Had to get the holes lines up on the wing, done them in the centre along the spar solidest point

holes lines up nice little test fit, don't worry not using these screws for the finished product 

Drilling through the plastic wasn't a nice job, had to take it nice and easy as I had already cracked one mount, luckily enough this one held strong!

Next was drilling two countersunk holes to rivet the mount to ally 

All the hard work done now a test fit! 

Quick rattle can job with some Matt black to make it look more presentable! 

Nice flush rivets 

Looks a lot better with it sprayed 

Some labels to make it look a bit more official haha

 

finally the view it gives of the aircraft, which is honestly amazing gets the full aircraft in! Can't wait to use it, just a bit nervous about putting my hero 3 black edition on the wing at 1500ft up! Was thinking of doing some sort of lanyard just incase the mount fails screwed in on another screw

How on earth did you get permission to drill holes in the planes haha. looks good tho you need to get a video of one rolling around and flipping upside down haha. and yeh the lanyard is a great idea just make sure its not to long and wont damage the aircraft

i blew my dt up ... but i fixed it.... Then i crashed it.... but i didnt fix it right and 2 scouser's come in the middle of the night and left me with a working bike

Haha Danny the holes was already drilled as they're the holes that hold the wingtip on, not to worry theirs about 20 holding it on, yeah I know it needs to be long enough to take the gopro out the way of the wing so it doesn't cause damage or get caught in the aileron

Should have a video tomorrow, gotta pull the aircraft out to give it a ground run so will get a video of it taxing around so should be able to see if theirs any vibration or anything

id put a little d ring like these bellow then a lanyard but if it did come off it would flap about and hit the wing so might not be suitable

have you used it yet would be good to see a video

I watched a programme on quest called destroyed in seconds a plane crashed while doing stunts at an airshow an they found 5 of wingtip bolts hadn't been fitted causing to tear off

No yet to test it mate been busy with work and not had a chance to get in the air will try soon tho!

Think Ive seen that doesn't th guy pull a shoot for the aircraft
