Yeah I know it's not. It's time consuming. It was the fact it was literally the last bolt to go back in. All the intercooling, inlet manifold, pretty much everything back on and then snap.

Something positive :D

A good mate of mine asked around and managed to get an engineering firm to open yesterday so the head is not fixed :D Good bunch of lads who do this sort of job day in day out. So that was one thing.

But I think I best get my mate to give me a hand. Check all the shims and clearances. I wasn't going to bother but to be fair, I may as well do it properly.

So I'm now back on track to getting this car back on the road. Few more goodies turned up this morning so I can keep cracking on.

Cannot absolutely believe the luck I am getting with this car. Absolutely unreal. I bought proper exhaust bolts to tighten the exhaust back up with. Only to have the exhaust stud shear off! GREAT! cylinder will have to come off again, another £150 thrown down the drain! I am livid.

But I can't bring myself to waste another brand new headgasket and head bolts. So fck it. I'm either going to take it to a garage and get them to do it or just accept the severe power loss. I need my dt back on the road and this car is the ticket.

Also, got the car 90% there and water IS STILL PISSING OUT THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING! That was the whole reason for the tear down. What am I doing wrong.

Two words fûck it. I'm just going to get it running now. Battery is completely dead and the king lead snapped. Done another oil change today but no more money to be spent on this car this month.

Aww mate just keep with it! She's looking so good! Remember you don't own a project car the project car owns you! You feel bad for £150 for sheering an exhaust stud, I sheered a cylinder stud of an aircraft engine the other day in work! That's about £18k worth of work to split the engine etc! Haha

The first one was a camshaft journal bolt. Now this! Just been on the forum and I've found out why. Needless to say I'm embarrassed.

Toyota use fine thread studs on their exhaust side. Hence why I snapped it. Great.

But yeah cheers mate. I'm glad it's getting there.

Thermostat is still leaking water! So I think it must be cracked. Have ordered another one, along with a new king lead and thermostat so should be all ready to go by the time next week occurs.

Today I fitted my 'Slam Panel'. Finishes the front end off a bit better, hids a lot of mess.

 Precisely....

You made an adapter plate for one of the small aircraft so that you could film a flying session with your GoPro

Been having problems getting this started. I asked the lads on the forum and they gave me some advice.

Whipped off my brothers rocker cover to see how it should be timed up by. Turns out I hadn't timed the valves up to the right notch, good thing these cars are non-interfering. But still, I turned it all over by hand before going further.

Sorted that out and she coughed, spluttered then smoked into life.

Definitely some small issues here and there but generally I think it's good to go.

Aye mate. I'm not one to throw in the towel anyway. I'm just going to use this car sparingly now to get the DT fixed. Once the bike is back on the road you can expect to see some more upgrades going on this.

Maybe one more payday on this? And then just get zoned in on the bike for the next few months. Get it looking pucker :D

Yeah, this is not a happy story.

The engine idles fine.

Has guzzled all the coolant and the engine oil is creamy. My virdict is that this engine is fcked.

This car isn't even that nice, body work wise. It's got dings, dents and lacquer peel.

This may have to go now....

What a fcking DONUT!

Blood connecting a vacuum line to a water line didn't I!

FML Injected water into the engine for a bout 20 minutes. Can't believe it didn't Hydralock on me.

That's why we buy JAPAN MOTORS! Flushed the engine oil a few times and spun it up the road! Boosting nicely. Very pleased with that result.

Been driving this now for a few weeks. Oil leaking from the sump (hopefully) so I'll sort that out this weekend. Small coolant leak but other than that she's golden :D I'm just enjoying boosting atm.

Aye she doesn't stay on the road for long I'm afraid Liam.

She's developed an oil leak which I thought it was the sump but now looks to be the crankshaft. So it's back to stripping it again to sort it out.

Shouldn't be too hard of a job, bastard is is that it's a cam belt job! Ha! lmao. Literally just done the cam belt and it has to come off again. Nevermind

Might be some light at the end of the tunnel though lads.

I've been having a look at this oil leak. Whilst I haven't fixed it, I have noticed that this engine has actually been forged by a previous own. A job I was going to do anyway, but at a cost of £1400 it ain't cheap. Well I believe it's already been done so happy days. Can actually wack the boost up :D

Now that the car is actually running, it was nice to get down to the local car meet with a few mates. Even meet some people of the UKSO forum :D

Put it this way, my brothers keeps up with a 300 brake Mitsubushi V Evolution and that Type R there. Not bad for a 1.3 engine.

They're great fun as well they make so many whistles and bangs.
