Crf250 build project possible rebuild?

Hi guys just went and picked up a project! Muhahaha it's an 07 crf250 twin pipe! At the minute the bikes stripped in bits! But I know it's all there as I took it apart originally, the engine has locked up not sure why haven't pulled it apart, I'm debating what to do with it do I take a chance and rebuild it or just build it back up as a rolling bike and sell it on! Not to sure what to do yet but here's a few pics it's one giant puzzle!

Here's the bike before it was split

here it is now

How I got it home hahaha

Hhmm...it's missing the boost ports and expansion chamber??

It's not feasible to fix a 4T Crosser to sell it on for a profit. That's the kicker. Unless you fancy using it.

A full blow race engine is not going to be cheap to rebuild.

But it's a good place to start to learn about engines and what not :D

I know mate I'll have to mod it ; ) haha

I know mate I'm not sure what to do yet I do have a good friend who owns Mitaka pistons who could possibly hook me up with a rebuild kit but it all depends on the damage

It's more than just the pistons I was thinking about. If the valves are damaged then it's going to need extensive head rebuild. Stuff you need a specialist to do...expensive work.

I know mate I'm just hoping a baring has seized or something stupid, praying it hasn't dropped a valve! I can see both exhaust valves are still in one piece and when I took the header pipe off nothing fell out which is good!

CR500 engine and the frame kit then everything else you need to do the conversion aint cheap either lol.............

Strip the motor and see whats up with it, if it aint dropped a valve shouldn't be to bad. But still salty money........

Quick update, bikes now built up as a rolling chassis the engine is with a friend who has already confirmed the bottom end bearings have gone so I need a crank and conrod so that's it up to now! I've polished half of the frame up so looking quite I'll post some pics bellow!

Well the engines split and the damage has been assessed, the crank bearing has failed causing it to destroy the bearing but has done minimal damage to the casings which is good, the engine is going to get rebuilt! Yayy another getting back out there! So should have some pics for you guys soon!

Is it worth it? You will have to get the crank reground if the bearing has failed?

And it's not like it's a rare enough bike. Still think a 250 smoker conversion would be epic for this. Would cost around the same and get double the power....just saying.

Clean her up nice though Liam, be a wicked project :D

It's worth it for me mate haha I know the guy who owns Mitaka so he's gonna sort me out with the parts. As much as I'd love to do a 250 smoker project it's just the welding that's the hard work!

Don't worry mate I will! She's tucked up away at the minute waiting for me to give her some attention!

Welding isn't rocket science mate. You will only need the bare minimum of welding in order to make it work.

Nah that's fair enough mate. Good on you :D

I know mate it's just the fact it's ally welding that's what worries me I've read up on it and seriously thought about it but I've seen some horror stories where it's all gone wrong! Maybe one day when I've got a bit more cash haha

Why its only 55 quid to register it properly, just get a dating letter from Honda UK so you can get an age related plate. They will want you do put your request down in writing so fire them a letter off explaining you want to road register the bike, tell them the model and give them the frame and engine number and job done.......

Fire a letter off to

Honda (UK)

Cant see the point when you can just send the new logbook back off to DVLA and change the cc on the logbook from 249 to 124, at least it would be legit and wont be a ringer with a dodgy XR frame number stamped on it.
