Hi everyone new member here :)

Just thought id show you my bike.

Bought from Ebay for £500 was being used as a field bike but came with all lights log book and keys, it even had the steering lock key which normally goes missing also the wiring loom was untouched as they normally get cut when they are fielded.

Heres how she looked when i picked her up from Nottingham

and

Notice the horrible cut down panels lol, looks blue in the pic but its the not so nice purple colour but I always planned on changing it to blue with white frame :)

After buying a load of panels from ebay and getting ripped off on some of them I finally got it looking sort of how I wanted and rode it round for a while like it was.

shes got a jack up kit in that pic and I managed to pick up a 3 wire servo off ebay for £19 on a mis listed item :D

I finally bit the bullet to strip her after a mate borrowed it and he was riding it too hard and managed to make the chain come off, it wrapped round the front sprocket 3 times!! while taking a chunk out of the casing and a puddle of oil on the floor

at the moment she looks like this except for now the swinging arm and engine is out

I plan on stripping it, cleaning and replacing everything that needs it and then spraying the frame white

At the moment I have amassed another set of panels for the rear brand new from ebay as the ones i had i had to make do with for the time being,  nearly new rear disc, front caliper guard, brand new disc guard and screws, had the seat recovered in blue with genuine cover, white clock dials with blue leds from ebay germany, twin air air filter, meshed rad scoops.

I plan on getting a full Dep pipe with nickel front and maybe an athena 170cc kit but at nearly £100 a piston heh like my mates dt which he has popped two pistons.

Ill add some more pics as i do more work on it and add some pics of the other bits ive got

Anyone know how I can seal the hole in the casing

cheers

Andy

Get your mate to fix it

Not sure what the casings are made but if its aluminium/magnesium you should be able to weld a plate to cover the hole. But you'll need to use a TIG welder which are tricky thing to master. Check round your local car repair garages as they may be able to help you out.

A similar thing happend to me, not long afer I bought my dt I pulled away on it and the chain came off the rear sprocket swung round and smashed a hole right in the middle of the engine case (on the bottom) which drained all the oil on to the floor.

My chain had too much slack in it thats way it came off, so I fitted new sprockets (front and rear) and a new chain, settting it to the right tension his time.

To fix the hole, I rubbed the edges back with a bit of sand paper, cleaned off any oil and used Chemical Metal to fill it.

Filled up with new oil the next day and havnt had a leak yet.

Thanks for the info, i think it maybe harder in my case as the clutch arm is right where the hole is and the last thing i need is the chem metal drying hard and locking the clutch lmao.

Yeah chain was far too slack, my bad, new chain and sprockets on the way

ill get it sorted

Well the frame went in for powdercoating last week, been told they will contact me end of this week so im very excited

only downer is I got quoted £35 on the phone from paintwise in Margate but when I went there they laughed and said no its £70 mate, anyway £35 did sound a bit unrealistic so I booked it in ill post some pics when its done

WOW is she nice or what!

still need to sort out a few niggles like i bought led indicators but need a new relay but might work around that somehow, need new handgaurds as the old ones are a but too scuffed plus a few other bits but at least i can ride her now.

Bloody hell she is much faster than she used to be, the dep really helps

Hi, you've certainly done a lot of work on your bike, it looks 10 years newer.

If you want to keep your DEP front pipe looking like new i suggest you spray it with heat-proof laquer or it will start getting rusty in about 2 months

Remember the hole in the casing?

well I thought id fixed it, the metal weld stuff had fixed the casing but now I have a drip from the output shaft i noticed drips of oil and on investigating I noticed the bike was coated , I went to see the fountain of knowledge that is matt at bikebits and he said when the chain came off it bent the output chaft slighlty and caused the leak.

I had a few words with my mate who did the damage and look what he turned up for me

But ive a question on it, this engine was originally from a 2002 dt that had been stolen recovered and bought off ebay, the water pump seal had gone causing water/oil mix and calcification, the seal isnt a prob as ill use my original gearbox casing but will the calcification have damaged the crank seals in any way? we have not heard this engine run at all and the original top end was knackered everything else looks fine.

If all else fails at least I should be able to make one good out of the two.

Hi Andy, The oil/water emulsification shouldnt have damaged any of the seals. The mayo just blocks up oilways within the engine. Make sure its thoroughly flushed through

Shame, ive just rebuilt that engine and as soon as it ran I knew it was going to be trouble.

It sounded very rumbly and was drinking the gearbox oil, all of a sudden horrible clanking metallic noise and one non running engine

Just gotta save up for a new one now
