so its time for the 2nd rebuild on the old girl, as it failed the mot today. been wanting to do it for a while now but this seems a good time to do it lol it failed on a few things, front shocks rear shock n rear pads, all the off road abuse has taken its toll on her, my plans wer to go sm with the new shape aprilia rs125 wheels and brakes, and the rest pretty much standard, goin black powder coat frame n swinger with the old skool yam yellow for the plastics tank and wheels, engines getting full rebuild, bigger carb, got lots of other little ideas aswell but well see how it all goes, first job tho is getting the wheels n brakes, coz iv gota make custom brake carriers for the big rs brakes i plan to design them at work using our cad program, then machine it on the nc mill from high tensile alloy we use for making conrods, then get the parts annodised, want to make other random bits like the top engine supports n rear brake n gear leaver from alloy n anything else tht can be done, might even av a bash at making my own yokes from billet aswell ; )

will update with pics wen progress is made

Think the seals are gone n it's lost the gas or oil, there's no damping on it now so gotta get another, I'm sure ebay will have some on there

jus a lil up date on the bike, orderd a set of new shape rs wheel from ebay jus waiting for funds to clear to the seller then theyll get sent out to me,

i got all wats in the pic on the ebay link plus front and rear caliper and rear axle for 310 delivered,

>>>ebay link<<<

this is the state its in now before rebuild starts..

jus trial fitted an old shape rs wheel to see wats needed. old wheel looks quite good aswell might buy a front to match that one aswell n have the option of both sets,

as soon as iv done all the mods to fit the new rs wheels ill start stripping it for powder coating, theres one thing i was planning on getting the wheels coated yellow to match the rest of the bike but now im thinking itll be too much yellow, wat do you lot think keep em gun metal grey or coat em black or yellow??? confuse

so got some proper spacers made up today n they fit almost perfect just had to put a small shim on one side n it lines up perfect hoping the newer wheels are the same dimensions so i can use these

also my new carb came today from norfe boy, couldnt belive how big it is lol cant wait to try it out wen its all together,

jus waiting on the wheels now then i can make a proper start on the rebuild, also might try get my hands on these bad boys aswell ; )

hmm da ja vu, i had two of those, fitted one on my dt and sold the other, then it wouldn't stay on, because the carb hit the crankcase, it needed to be level for the floatbowl to stay full, so made a space to go between the manifold and reeds, worked ok, but still kept popping off the manifold, so sold it,

maybe you should make a custom onesmile

so got the new wheels n brakes today biggrin

rough line up for spacers n mods, defo need the bigger 450 forks for the front axle tho, the axle is huge lol

once iv got the spacers n front axle sorted therll be sent off fpr a respray decided not to go half n half on the wheels now as theres an odd number of spokes so it will look odd with one of the spokes with 2 different colours on it lol

i remember the cable needed adjusting to fully open and close the slide

i had to remove some plastic tube on the throttle to make it fit through the top of the carb,

iv got the trough the top but its the outer cable cover that is a bit random i cut the adjuster off the cable itself n thought the cable would slot into the brass bit on top of the carb but it still dont fit? it should work as it is but its a bit of a bodge, dont spose u know wat cable is sposed to be used with the carb? i only need a single cable now as im running premix so no need for the split section, spose any mxer that uses tht carb i spose lol but which one???
