Won't be able to look at it till weekend lads and am in Sussex Norfe dam it, but thankyou so much for wanting to help......was just saying bradders mate about my bike rattling like hell at the moment and your the man to ask on parts etc hehe, I wil get the manual out and do it step by step, but can I ask when splitting the engine in 2 after taking the top end off and side casings, do I have to take all the clutch plates/basket off aswell and all the stuff inside the left hand side casing? Or can all this stay on while I pull the engine in 2?

ha ha cheeky ****er, like ur style tho

no you have to take all the clutch off mate, ur best off resting it on the stator side when stripping it and pulling the clutch side crank case off coz theres a circlip on the selector fork shaft and it gets stuck trying to pull the cluster of gears out

seen as iv got some spare time on my hands (with no bike boo hoo) i might do a step by step engine strip guide, ill build what ever i can out of my engine spares for the bottom end guide as i dont have a complete one plus it will give me a good reason to be in the garage in the piece n quiet ha ha

i did one for the top end strip and rebuild on mine, when i did it as i thought it would be good for people on here

but its only photos tho but im sure it will give a clear description with pointers I just never got round to doing it with the kids taking up house time

when are you starting the rebuild as i think the haynes manual is crap tbh, iv always had clymer manuals ther 3 times as thick with all pictures step by step and dont think the haynes is verry helpfull to novices

when you need to lock the crank to get a nut off just put a penny in between two gears, much easier than using blocks of wood and ****

Right lads 2 problems already haven't got the right tool to get the clutch basket off, and one of the screws which hold the oil pump on is stuck right on, not rusted or anything it's where YAMAHA had it and they use some bloody glue/sealant stuff inside to keep the screw on tight!!!!!

Alright mate this might be way off but have you checked the screws that hold the stator on behind the flywheel, later model RG125's have been known for them to come loose and catch on the flywheel and cause a weird rattling sound that's taken people ages to locate.

try tapping the screw driver on the bolt/screw firts or at the same time as turning,
n wat do u need to get the c,basket off? should be a nut then jus slide it off the shaft

I will try all this lads what you suggested I just thought you had to take off all the clutch bits bradders mate including plates/basket to split the engine in two? Gonna drop the engine at the weekend hoping the engine will come straight out at first without disconnecting everything?

Sounds to me like your small end bearing or gudgeon pin are either the wrong size or knackered.

I'd check them first before taring apart the bottom end.

This is the problem lads, I have put so much money into it, time and time again, I know what your all saying, but I just havent got it in me this time to strip/check, whatever I got to do with it, if I knew the problem first hand with that rattle I would sort it, so many people are saying so many different things, and even though I thank everyone for taking the time to reply, we seem to be all scratching are heads on this one, even me, I'm not 100% sure on this but it cant be the crank, or top end, the crank looked fine with I looked at it from the top, so did the rod bit which sticks out, I even started the bike up with no exhaust and looked up the port, and it all seems fine up there!!!!! this baffles me big time, within the first hour I put it on ebay this morning someone offered me 650 quid lol, got 14 watches at the moment...................so come on which one of you lot are watching to eh eh eh !!!!!
