Ram Air isn't a filter its a type of induction just like a turbo or supercharger but instead of a mechanic devise ramming the air throw into the engine the force of you moving and the faster you go the more air gets rammed throw

A ram-air intake is any intake design which uses the dynamic air pressure created by vehicle motion to increase the static air pressure inside of the intake manifold on an engine, thus allowing a greater mass flow through the engine and hence increasing engine power.

Oh. I didn't know that. I thought it was just an air filter that didn't use an airbox.

this is the only bike that pops to mind even thou i think its fake just styling of the bigger gp bikes

the air goes throw holes in the front fairing then throw the pipes into the top of the tank and throw the tank into the airbox to force the air throw =]

nath might know what bikes have it as hes the sport bike prick not me haha

Just read up on it. Highly doubtful the rs50 used it lol. Not as simple as chucking air at the filter. Especially on carb bikes. Very technical.

i so pose it would be then fella if you think of it like the dt it sucks in what it can but with say your rs it plows the air throw the box into the carb so if you upjet slightly its like having a turbo for instance and brings the power up =]

It gets really techinal. Ram air filters are hard to set up on carbs. Carbs depend on the venturi effect. And using ram air filters can have a negative effect on this.

being sideways nevs wont do the same effect but seen them do it on ntvs on the forum and seem to have good effect only thing was he got sick of the induction noise haha

if you think of when they used to slap on superchargers onto old v8s and that yes they are engine fed but its the same principle just at a higher volume.

watched a thing outher day of these guys buy a old chevy lump in america and they dynoed it at 197bhp i think it was then fitted 2 leaf blowers raming air into the intake wile dynoing it and it then made 205bhp on a car of that scale 8bhp is nothing but still ****ing brilliant haha


im not no expert but in theory it should help if you can set the carb up that is. being a 38 i think it was should help alot and be all brapping hehehe

You're forgetting the most iconic ram air bike "SRAD" Suzuki RAM Air Direct - dohhhhh, no performance benefits but the induction sound is jizz worthy mmmmmmmmm

ive thought about this on the dtr's ...the air filter is at the back with the opening to the rear at speeds this must be restricting them to some extent confuse

 how about fitting a computer  cpu 12v fan  over the air box hole  ?  about the right size and would run direct from the battery

Nice one toy. I think I'll grab one of those myself. Might scrap the 4DL engine Idea and just supercharge the standard engine. Think of the torque gains!

Haven't heard anything from you in a while nev. any updates?

Have been speaking to my local yamaha motocycle shop.

Apparently the Yamaha TZR125 SP Barrel is actual a barrel tuned/created by Polini. The one that is uncoded is apparently is created by them. Interesting i thought. If that was the case why has polini never released a big bore version of that ported engine? Money to be made on a mass scale!

Actually just read an email he sent me.

He's bought an underslug tzr exhaust but it's not lining up. Why would it? So he is considering having one made up. Or maybe a dep. fyi i've got the 3mb0p on my bike. Seems good with the dep.
