I will have a white tank and a black tank, that slinky is very kindly giving to me, so I can chop and change in half an hour so we can see what the bike looks like with either! Going to love that feature lol!

Yeah cheers guys, need to get the ball rolling again, hard as it is with not having the bike at my new house and all the " nagging " that brings. I measure blinds and install them now... not building engines lol.

Some of you will know the hassle I have had getting the bike to run and I know it is something stupid in the carb, it gets to the point of frustration where you feel like giving up really glad I have kept that spam rubbish of this thread though!

Had a setback when someone out bid me on a shed/workshop I was meant to be picking up on gumtree for my house lol!!

will get some pics up soon, waiting on a new carb I ordered on ebay whole unit for £45... heres hoping that will mean this slob can ride a DT to work on these sunny mornings!

By the way I done a mock up with the fairings and they looked amazing, running a black tank at the moment but I think white looked better, I will let you guys decide from the pics..

Ah, good then, he comes across as a nice person on the forums. smile

Just some of the traffic cops are complete horrible people, pulling people over and then giving them a right telling off like they're kids, like some of the ones on that Traffic Cops like "Yeah, we'll give him a ticket" and then looking all over the vehicle to give out some tickets. One of them was bragging about how many tickets he gives out on a similar show. no

Cheers, some folk give us a bad name but for the most part folk in the traffic are there for a reason - because they love motors in one way or another.

To be fair I have found Slinky's co workers to be fair in my only experience. I remember When I was 17 and was clocked by them with a speed gun sitting over the brow of a hill, ( Dalkeith road by the hospital you have probaly sat their lol city centre bound...good spot lol) anyway I came over the hill at 58 in my chav mobile with some unclassy female aquantances  in a 30. Instead of giving me the big lecture ect they just gave me my ticket and asked if my clio was the 3 litre V6 one since it had the twin exhaust's with staight faces. I now relize they were taking the total piss lol but I was humbled as a 17 year old noob lol!! They could have threw the book at me, but I was hard on the brakes and was done on the ticket at 44. I don't drive like a tit anymore anyway so they don't bother me much.

So as Slinky says most of them just like their motors, even the biker cops even nod other bikers up here!

Bit of an update, Started working on the bike after about four months and it is heart ache and frustration as normal. I have plenty of time on my hands now after being the busiest I have been with work in my whole life plus moving house ect. The only problem is here at my new house I need to get a shed to store the bike and do some work in ect.

Anyway I tried a new carb I got of ebay after I gave it a good clean. At first it seemed promising but I got the bike going by pouring fuel in the barrel and it went picking up the revs on it's own again so I killed it.

To add to the problems the starter is only engaging intermitadley even after I cleaned all the connections and fresh battery . I am wondering if it earths it's self when it is bolted to the engine and the powder coat may be preventing this?

Anyway I was fed up and started to eye up the bike for breaking it lol!! During this moment I pulled my self together and said I have to order a new genuine gasket set split the engine and re seal it. Must be an air leak, I reckon I rushed the re build in my hurry to finish the bike before I moved and air is getting in between the crank case halves. But at least I am back in the building mode I was and I will be back on here regulary, the weather is to good to not be out on a bike at the moment!

Was working on the bike today, Got some videos for you guys to see what yous think my next point of call, does this seem to be an air leak? bare in mind the revs never drop when it hits the top and would go like that till the fuel ran out!

Cheers mate yours looking great to. Just need to get the thing running cause at the moment it is a model of a DT lol.

I am thinking of trying the white tank when it's running but I am very pleased with it, hadn't seen it in three months lol, so I could really see the work I had put in before I threw the towel in, got some more pics uploading.

Slob, don't sell or break the bike, i've been thinking the same, but need to get it finished - put too much hard work into it.

Work started on my 'man shed' finally so might have a home from home to work on my bike soon....

You need to move that pipe away from the exhaust. Move the pipe under the exhaust and tie-strap it to the frame. Or you'll end up with a pipe all melted.

Finally the bike is running! Was the throttle cable all along diagnosed by fellow forum users big thanks! I replaced the cable with the one I got with my carb as it turns out mines had a kink in it ffs lol.

The bike is running sweet now I was even driving it about, gear changes were silky smooth and no leaks ect, Felt like a brand new bike. Here are some pics. Got some running videos to put up to.

First time out riding since October.

Thanks again mate. Yeah I am proud cause its all my own work with just the help of you guys on the forum. Before I was someone that would go to a dealer for a fork seal replacement ect rather than get stuck in, can safely say that has changed.

Decal wise the pain is so nice it would be a shame to cover it. It does need something to finish of though. I was maybe thinking the oem DT125x red sticker for the rear panels. Do you know the ones I mean. Can't find them anywhere though.
