newbie not good with electrics

just joined the website just got myself a DT125 re 05 and just looked at the wiring and it looks like edward scissor hands has been at it.....the previous owner had it on daytime M.O.T i am wanting to get lights on but there are wires everywhere...whats best to do ( new loom? ) any ideas? thanks
